Arguments

  1. Determination is a positive personality quality that helps to overcome obstacles on the way to a goal.
  2. Determination speaks of willpower, resilience, and the ability to solve problems.
  3. Purposeful people are amazing.
  4. Determination helps you become successful in life.
  5. To become successful and achieve what you want, you need to instill in your child from childhood such a trait as determination.
  6. Purposeful people are not afraid to set high standards for themselves, but overcome difficulties with courage and confidence.

What is determination? (essay-reasoning)

The essay contains references to the story by L. Kuklin “Operation “Snow”.

Option 1

Determination is the ability to achieve your dreams, no matter what. Purposefulness speaks of strength of character, perseverance, the ability to gather and step forward, despite difficulties, dangers, and circumstances.

I am fascinated by purposeful people, probably because I cannot call myself such a person. It’s unlikely that I, like the Bull from the story I read, would have dared to swim again to the Devil’s Finger after being on the brink of death! But the “pale-faced boy” really turned out to be persistent. For me, the story about him is a story about a purposeful person.

So is my older sister. In preparation for the city athletics competition, Galya refused a tourist trip to St. Petersburg: she needed to maintain a sleep and training regime. Staying home and devoting time to sports was her conscious decision.

Therefore, determination is the ability to overcome obstacles that arise and not give up when encountering difficulties.

Option 2

If a person persistently pursues his goal, despite doubts, failures, dangers and risks, then such a person is called goal-oriented. He is constantly in action, striving to fulfill his cherished dream.

This is exactly how the boy nicknamed Bull from the story I read behaves. Despite the fact that he almost drowned while struggling with the “dead swell,” the “bespectacled man” did not abandon his intention to sooner or later swim to the Devil’s Finger. The “skinny boy” showed the “desperate coastal brotherhood” an example of true determination.

The same quality motivated the famous aircraft designer A.N. Tupolev, who created the aircraft on which the famous flights across the North Pole to America were made.

Each person has his own dream and his own goal, but it is not they that characterize him, but how he achieves their fulfillment. Perseverance and inflexibility distinguish a winner from a dreamer.

I am sure that determination helps you become successful in life.

Option 3

I understand determination as a person’s ability not to give up on the path to his goal, to rise again and again if circumstances knock him down, and to move forward. Material from the site //iEssay.ru

In the story I read, an example of a purposeful person is the boy Bull, who, having decided to swim to the Devil’s Finger, almost drowned, but did not give up the thought of boldly conquering a dangerous path.

I can call any of the winners of the Olympic Games purposeful. It is known how strict their training regime is and how long the path to the podium can be. However, difficulties, injuries and the need to overcome themselves every day do not stop them, but only strengthen their character.

Is it possible to become an outstanding person without determination? Hardly! But you don't have to be brilliant to demonstrate your determination.

This was proven to us by Bychok, the brave hero of L. Kuklin’s story.

Arguments from literature

  1. A.P. Platonov "The Sandy Teacher".

What character traits should a purposeful person have? According to A.P. Platonov, a purposeful person has perseverance, determination, enormous willpower, and perseverance. It is these traits that he gives to the heroine of the story “The Sandy Teacher” Maria Naryshkina. At the beginning of the work, we see her as a twenty-year-old girl who graduated from pedagogical courses and was assigned to a distant village “on the border with the Central Asian desert.” The people in Khoshutovo are very poor: they have nothing to wear, nothing to wear, nothing to eat. Hungry children are not interested in studying, they are not even attracted to fairy tales, they, like adults, get sick and die. All troubles come from sandstorms, which, covering everything around with sand, seem to bring death. Then the young teacher had a goal - to fight the sands and make life easier for people in Khoshutov. But in order to begin the fight, she first had to learn how to wage this fight herself. It took her a lot of work to motivate the peasants to do this, to persuade them, to plant shrubs with them, to wait for the plantings to grow. But the girl, although young, was persistent. She never once regretted that she started a war against the sand and desert, did not break down in a foreign land, but resolutely and stubbornly walked towards her goal and led the peasants with her. After a few years, the results became visible, and life in Khoshutov changed for the better: the sands receded, water appeared in the wells, and the faces of the residents became cheerful. Reading about the exploits of the heroine, we agree with the author: if a person has the courage to move forward towards the goal, he will definitely reach it.

2. Jack London “Love of Life”

Jack London's heroes are people of unlimited potential, courageous, strong-willed, noble and purposeful. In the story “Love of Life” the author showed the incredible strength of the human spirit, willpower, and perseverance. The main character of the work is an unknown man. The reader does not know until the end of the story his name or how old he is; he only knows that he is returning home with the gold he has mined. His comrade abandoned him as soon as the main character twisted his ankle. He is left alone in a deserted place full of dangers and obstacles. His main goal is to survive at any cost. Morally and physically exhausted, he cannot walk, but crawls towards the bay. He is tormented by severe hunger, depriving him of his last strength and taking away his reason. He has to fight with all this. The hero had to learn to survive in incredible conditions and understand an important truth: happiness does not lie in money or gold. He managed to defeat the wolf, who saw prey in the exhausted man. But no difficulties could kill his love for life. With the last of his strength, the hero made it to the bay, where he was picked up. We rejoice for him and understand that in order to achieve a goal a person can mobilize his last strength.

3. B.N. Field "The Tale of a Real Man"

In life, you can always achieve what you want if you make an effort and don’t give in to the difficulties that will arise on the way to your goal. This is exactly what is described in the work of B.N. Polevoy “The Tale of a Real Man.” The author takes us to the years of the Great Patriotic War and introduces us to fighter pilot Alexei Meresyev. During one of the flights, his plane crashed, but the pilot himself miraculously survived. For eighteen days he crawls through the forest to people, does not give in to difficulties, learns to overcome them. When he was taken to the hospital, both legs had to be amputated. This was a terrible blow for him. He learns to walk with prosthetics and dreams of taking to the skies again. This became his goal. Having overcome many difficulties, but not giving in to circumstances, after a year and a half he returned to aviation and flew combat missions. Meresyev makes seven flights a day, becomes one of the best pilots of his regiment, and then the commander of a fighter squadron. Thanks to such qualities as perseverance, willpower, determination, dedication, he achieves his goal. Such people are always admired, they become role models for many generations and inspire heroic deeds.

Essay on the topic of determination, grade 9

(4) He wore bulging round glasses, for which the boys aptly nicknamed the pale-faced boy Bully - there is such a funny fish in the sea with a huge head and eyes bulging in constant surprise. (5) They despised him for his fussy manner of swimming, so they did not accept him into their brotherhood. (6) But one day the incredible happened! (7) The bull, this frail, bespectacled man, dared to swim to the Devil’s Finger - a gloomy steep cliff at the farthest entrance to the bay! (8) For him, of course, this was a truly desperate act. (9) And the silent sniffling of the boys was evidence of this... (Y) Back The bull swam too slowly, awkwardly waddling from side to side and raising his arms, weak as reeds, high. (And) In addition, he kept adjusting his glasses: apparently, water was flooding the glasses. (12) He could not foresee one more circumstance. (13) A dead swell came from the sea - a wide, slow wave. (14) Harmless on the open sea, she became ferocious in the narrow stone labyrinths of the bay. (15) With each new wave, the surge near the shore became stronger and more dangerous. (16) Only an experienced and strong swimmer could cope with it. (17) Of course, the city boy could not know this... (18) The breaker wave threw him back, like a blind kitten. (19) One of the boys said hesitantly in my ear: (20) - Guys, the Bull is drowning... (21) They were confused by the fact that he did not shout: “Help!” or something like that. (22) The bull drowned silently and, if I may say so, with dignity. (23) I pulled on my fins, trying not to miss with my eyes the place where the boy’s head last flashed, and dived under the foamy crest of the next wave. (24) I was lucky: on the fourth or fifth pass I touched the boy’s hand. (25) He was already exhausted, went limp and swallowed water, but quickly came to his senses, although he still winced and cleared his throat for a long time. (26) Then, pulling on his shirt, he looked at me and said: (27) “But still, I didn’t swim at all... (28) A little bit... (29) “A little bit...” I imitated him, boiling up. . (30)—You barely drowned, you poor little thing! (31) He was not offended and only took a deep breath. (32) And then he suddenly asked: (33) - Will you be here tomorrow? (34) - Why do you need it? — I muttered not too politely. (35) - I’ll swim again! - the boy blurted out hotly. (36) - Do you understand? (37) I have to swim! (38) Definitely a must! (39) Well, if something happens... (40) You will save me again... (41) Okay? (42) I was simply taken aback by such impudence. (43) For several moments I peered into his serious, bespectacled face, wondering whether I should give him a good hard time for educational purposes. (44) But there was something in the expression of his eyes that, completely unexpectedly for myself, I blurted out: (45) - Okay... come, we’ll see... (46) And all the boys crowded around us laughed joyfully: (47) ) - And what to watch? (48) Let's swim together - and go crazy! (49) The bull jumped joyfully, and I suddenly realized: this one will certainly swim. (50) If not tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow... (According to L. Kuklin) 15.3. Arguments from life

  1. A purposeful person, in our opinion, is Peter the Great. The goal of the entire life of the Russian Tsar was to strengthen the power and influence of Russia in the world. He wanted to see it as a cultural, rich, strong state, so he made every effort to achieve his goal. To implement his plan, knowledge, experience, and skills were needed, so Peter I himself studied books and developed skills in various fields. He paid special attention to the army and navy, realizing that the defense of the country, its strength and power depended on them. The king did not hesitate to pick up tools to saw, plan, and build ships. The path to the goal was not easy: the Russian people had difficulty parting with centuries-old traditions and customs and changing their usual way of life. With resistance, we had to introduce something new, change the way of thinking of representatives of all classes. The Russian “Mitrofanushki” did not want to study, and the tsar needed young minds, so he did not have to sit in the royal chambers, but studied and controlled a lot himself, traveled abroad to learn from the experience of other states. During the reign of Peter I, many different reforms were carried out, most of them changed life in Russia for the better, and the image of Peter I remained in history as an example of a purposeful, persistent, stubborn, hardworking and determined person in achieving his goals.
  2. A purposeful person always delights other people, knows how to inspire confidence in his abilities, and by his example pushes us to realize our dreams. Nick Vujicic is known all over the world. He is the most famous motivational speaker, that is, a speaker who motivates and inspires his audience. Nick was born disabled, without both legs and arms, but he did not withdraw, but set a goal for himself - to live a full life. He studied, has two higher educations, started a family, and is raising children. But to achieve this, he had to go through constant humiliation, listen to many caustic words, especially in adolescence, and endure many sidelong glances. But he not only learned to live with his disadvantage, but also shares his experience with other people. The path to the goal was difficult and took many years, but day after day, overcoming obstacles, struggling with difficulties, he approached the target. His tenacity, stamina, and endurance can be envied, because these are precisely the qualities that did not allow him to deviate from the path, but led him to his goal.

Arguments from folk wisdom

  1. “The woodpecker pecks the oak,” says the Russian proverb. It talks about perseverance in achieving a goal. If even a woodpecker can cope with an oak tree and hollow it out, then a person, with strength, effort, and patience, can achieve his intended goal.
  2. A Russian proverb says: “If there is aspiration, then there will be a way out.” The people noted that if a person has a desire, a desire, if he makes an effort, then there will always be a way out of the situation.
  3. “Whoever really wants to go up will invent a ladder,” says a Russian proverb. Indeed, a person who wants to achieve a goal will make every effort to achieve this. If you need to go upstairs, but there is no money for this, a person can come up with a ladder.
  4. “Without effort you can’t do anything, without striving you won’t achieve your goal,” said the Russian people in a proverb. He convinces us that effort is required to achieve a goal. Without effort, without striving, it is impossible to achieve what you want.
  5. “He who strives will achieve,” says a Russian proverb, which notes the role of striving in achieving a goal. Only if the goal is achieved if there is a desire, if all efforts are made.
  6. “Even though your horse doesn’t gallop, let it rush into the distance, even though your falcon doesn’t catch its prey, let it strive forward,” this is what the Russian people say about striving for a goal. This proverb has the following meaning: despite the fact that it is not immediately possible to achieve a goal, you still need to strive for it, not stop, but move forward. Let it be in small steps, with mistakes and losses, but the goal must be achieved.
  7. “Whoever is persistent achieves what he wants,” the Russian people believed. He argued that only a persistent person who does not give up in the face of difficulties, does not deviate from his plans, achieves what he wants.
  8. “He who tries will hammer a nail into a stone,” says the Russian proverb. The people in it note that a person who tries, makes efforts, will be able to do everything impossible, even drive a nail into a stone.
  9. “Thoughts and aspirations are as strong as flowing water,” asserted the Russian people. The proverb has a capacious meaning: just as flowing water quickly carries its waters, so the desire for a goal and the efforts made lead a person to what he wants.
  10. “Strive your mind for good,” says the Russian proverb. She conveys to us an important idea: we need to strive for good, set good goals for ourselves. This is useful not only for others, but also for ourselves.

Essay about Determination

So what is determination? Probably, each of us asked a similar question when our relatives told us: in order to achieve something, you definitely need determination!

Any person strives to achieve some heights, to overcome difficulties, because a person who lives without a goal is doomed to dissatisfaction with life; he, like a lonely block, will float aimlessly in the immense ocean, whose name is life.

Broadly defined, determination is, first of all, a strong desire to achieve something despite obstacles. The faster a person gives up, the less developed is his sense of purpose and the less he will achieve in life. A person who is passionate about his ideas and goals, who is ready to stoically overcome even the most difficult obstacles in his life, will ultimately rise above them and become a winner .

After setting the main and global goal, you need to break it into small pieces, into short-term efforts on yourself in order to overcome yourself and your weaknesses. After achieving the goal, it will be difficult to stop, because the taste of victory over oneself, over all obstacles will be felt in the air every second and attract more and more. At this moment, you need to set a new goal and go towards it.

However, in each of the people there lives the main enemy of determination, something that slows down the process of achieving a goal, something that takes away strength and energy so as not to give it to useful things - laziness. Because of laziness, motivation is lost and the general mood for that very victory . In addition, because of laziness, even the smallest failures can seem like a tragedy; laziness does all these tricks so that a person gives up what he intended, so that he breaks down . The first and main step to developing determination is to overcome your laziness.

Determination is not an innate quality, it is a characteristic that a person can improve and train. Emotions and will help to move closer to the goal. If you really want to succeed in something, be inspired by this idea and take small steps towards the goal, then a person will find the desired happiness. And happiness is the drug that beckons after the first goal achieved. Receiving a charge of vivacity, energy and satisfaction, a person also receives motivation to move on, set new goals, explore new industries, and improve.

Determine what you want, break it into small pieces, overcome laziness, achieve each piece separately, reach your goal and set a new, even bigger one - this is the recipe for happiness.

Aphorisms

  1. “Most people who fail to achieve their dreams do so not because of a lack of ability, but because of a lack of determination,” says one of the most popular motivational speakers in the world, Zig Ziglar. In his opinion, people who lack determination rarely achieve their dreams. In achieving a goal, it is not ability that plays a huge role, but perseverance.
  2. “The secret of success is perseverance in achieving a goal,” said Benjamin Disraeli, an English statesman. He believed that success is achieved by people who are persistent in achieving their goals, who do not give up what they started, who do not retreat from their plans, and, albeit in small steps, move towards realizing their dreams.
  3. “The day turns out well for those who can boast of determination or at least simply know what they want,” asserted the ancient Greek politician and poet Chilo. In his opinion, happy is the person who, upon waking up, set a goal for himself and confidently took the first step towards it. The poet is sure that the day will turn out great for such a person.
  4. “A person who certainly wants something forces fate to give up,” said the famous Russian poet M.Yu. Lermontov. In his opinion, a purposeful person, confidently pursuing a dream and firmly knowing what he wants to achieve, forces fate to submit to him.
  5. “To reach the goal, you must first go,” said the French writer Honore de Balzac. It is difficult to disagree with his opinion. Indeed, in order to achieve what you want, to carry out your plans, first of all you need to go towards the goal, sometimes make an effort, but not stop.
  6. “Not a single living person lives without some goal and striving for it. Having lost purpose and hope, a person often turns into a monster out of sadness,” famous Russian writer F.M. Dostoevsky. He was convinced that a person without a goal, without aspirations, is not able to live; he loses his human appearance, turning into a monster.
  7. American writer Ayn Rand said: “Only those in whom aspirations have faded are lost forever.” She believed that a person who has no goal, no aspirations, is considered lost, because such a person does not know where to move and why.
  8. “It doesn’t matter that you walk slowly, the main thing is don’t stop,” advised the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius. On the way to the goal, speed is not important; the most important thing is that a person does not stop, even in small steps, but approaches the target.
  9. “People always blame circumstances. I don't believe in circumstances. In this world, only those who seek the conditions they need succeed and, if they do not find them, create them themselves,” wrote Bernard Shaw, the famous Irish playwright and novelist. He does not believe those who, having not achieved their goal, blame various circumstances for failure. In his opinion, in order to achieve a goal, to reach it, you need to look for the necessary means, forces, conditions. A purposeful person, if he doesn’t find them, then creates them himself.
  10. “Crazy people are always better than healthy people in achieving their goals. This happens because for them there are no moral barriers, no shame, no justice, or even fear,” wrote the famous Russian writer L.N. Tolstoy. According to the classic of Russian literature, crazy people achieve their goals better than healthy ones, because they do not disdain any, even immoral, means, methods and ways of achieving their goals. A healthy person weighs his actions, words, actions, correlates them with the laws of morality, morality and conscience.
  11. “Stay away from people who mock your aspirations. Little people always do this, while great people always make you feel that you too can become great,” wrote the American writer and journalist Mark Twain. According to the classic, we need to avoid people who laugh at our aspirations, because only evil, selfish, callous people do this. Generous people push you toward your goals with words of encouragement and let you know that you, too, can become great.

What kind of person is called purposeful?

Determination is the desire to achieve a goal. A goal is what one strives for, what needs to be achieved. Purpose is as vital to a person as air. No one achieved success without setting a goal, just as no one lived without air. A means is a method of action to achieve something. What kind of person is called purposeful? It seems to me that a purposeful person is a person who goes towards his goal, despite the difficulties and obstacles that come his way. I immediately have a question: does the end justify the means? I think if the means are good, then yes, the end justifies the means. But most people use immoral, illegal, unpleasant means to achieve their goals, justifying themselves by the fact that the goal justifies the means.

So, for example, in A.P. Chekhov’s work “The Gooseberry,” Ivan Ivanovich told the story that happened to his brother Nikolai. Nikolai wanted to realize his old dream - to buy an estate with a gooseberry bush. He did everything possible and impossible. He saved money all his life and even went hungry, saving money for his estate. He married a rich widow, but starved her to death, and she gave her soul to God. And during his lifetime he put her money in a bank in his own name. The goal has been achieved - the estate has been purchased, gooseberries have been planted. When he achieved his goal, he lost the meaning of life. It seems to me that Nikolai Ivanovich can be called a purposeful person; buying an estate with a gooseberry bush was a lofty goal for him, and he walked towards this goal. But by what means? In this case, the end does not justify the means. The most striking examples of determination are not only the work of A.P. Chekhov, but also the work of Richard Bach “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”.

The main character saw in flight not only the production of food, but also art. And then Jonathan began to improve his flight. He began to fly very low over the water and at high speed. Jonathan broke all the laws of the pack. Jonathan was kicked out of the pack because of this. He began the life of a hermit. Jonathan still achieved perfection and lived a “happy life.” And we are not talking about seagulls here at all. In this work, seagulls are people concerned with material wealth. It seems to me that you should always improve and not be afraid of what society will say. After all, there are people who will support you in any situation.

These two works showed me how important it is to have a goal in life, but most importantly to use only good means.
