Difficulties: what they are, what qualities help to overcome them and how to survive difficult situations

Predicament - what is it?

Difficulties are certain obstacles that arise in the life of every individual. They interfere with achieving our goals, require effort and keep us in constant tension. Difficulties range from the simplest to the extremely complex. Some people are afraid of difficult situations arising, others react calmly to them and try to cope with them faster, believing that they make a person stronger and more experienced.

Sometimes overcoming the most negative problem opens up new opportunities, allows you to test your strength, allows you to learn from your mistakes and forms experience. To overcome all adversity, you must have the will and strong endurance. Sometimes a person disguises his negative qualities, but when faced with difficulties they appear, and then those around him begin to wonder how they could have made such a mistake in a close friend, brother, or relative.

Difficult moments make people vulnerable, but they also help identify the weaknesses of friends and significant other. Cowardly individuals, who are too lazy to act and fight for their goal, follow the path of least resistance, they look for their own benefit in everything and strive for a calm, routine life. When trouble appears on their path in life, they choose the easiest way to solve it - they run away from it or put it on the shoulders of their family and friends.

There are also individuals who, in any difficulty, begin to show their aggression. They speak negatively about those who created these difficulties, accuse them of all sins and threaten them. This should not be done, since all unpleasant situations must be treated calmly in order to overcome them more rationally and quickly. Then you will earn respect, increase your self-esteem and achieve success.

If you still find yourself in a difficult situation, tell yourself: “This won’t last long,” “I will definitely cope with everything.”

But hopeless situations also arise that you need to come to terms with and not blame yourself for failure.

How to support a person in difficult times: 5 tips

At first glance, it is not difficult to support a person in a difficult moment or, if necessary, create with him.

Yet many people struggle to find the right words in situations where they are most needed. How to support a person in difficult times and what should you say? There is no universal “recipe”. However, you can learn to understand which words are important in which situations. This will definitely find the support that a person needs most.

Faith and trust

In fact, people say very little in conversation and hear phrases like “I believe in you” or “I trust you.”

In addition, psychologists believe that the lack of direct expressions of emotions and support leads to people closing down and “withdrawal.” Therefore, it is very important that they are not ashamed to say such a word to a person. Of course, it is advisable to speak honestly, but even if you have doubts, such support will be very useful.

Also, don't confuse issues of faith and trust.

In the first case, it is more about how parents believe in their child, their wife - in her husband, and so on. But trust is important for friends, comrades, colleagues and those who need to know how they feel about them. Because when your relatives, friends or acquaintances have problems or problems, just say that you believe them. As a rule, sometimes a small step is enough for support.

Not ashamed

You can often meet those who, due to a lack of empathy or a complete misunderstanding of their words, begin to harm themselves.

It should be remembered that feeling grief for someone and expressing compassion or regret is a significantly different concept. In most cases, damage does not help or support anyone.

Instead, such words will cause the person to become even more locked in and feel unwanted. It is not for nothing that it is considered one of the most destructive feelings. Therefore, even if you are talking to a very sick person and trying to support him, do not be nice. Instead, try to lighten the mood, bring a smile and create a good mood.

sympathy

Most of the time, people find it difficult to find the right words when it comes to death and funerals.

How do you support someone who has just lost a family member or friend who is experiencing distress?

Many people believe that in such situations a word is completely unnecessary, but often this is not the case. It's better to say what you think. People always feel sincerity and react in nature.

Even if it is difficult to find the right words in such a situation, try to offer any help you can.

Some examples of human life problems

All adversities are different, they can be:

  • Material. Lack of money, lack of any property, no opportunity to increase your wealth.
  • Professional. Losing a job, being demoted, a work project being too difficult.
  • Stressful. The death of a close friend, relative, serious illness, divorce from a husband or breakup with a boyfriend, a change in the usual environment.

If you remain inactive and do not solve difficult situations, this will lead to prolonged depression.

How to change the perception of problems? A universal method for all types of difficulties

There is an old parable about a Jew, a goat and a rabbi. Its essence is that a Jew comes to a rabbi for advice. He asks: “How to overcome difficulties in life?” Of course, following the question, a list of all the problems that bother a person begins: cramped housing, family squabbles, cries of a baby, lack of money. After listening to the Jew, the rabbi advises him to get a goat. A week later, the person comes again for advice, but now talks about how much inconvenience having an animal causes. The rabbi advises him to sell the goat. Another week later, the rabbi meets the Jew and asks how he is doing. The man talks about how good it has become to live without a goat - it’s spacious, no one bleats, no smell of wool, no need to take anyone out to pasture.

What is the moral of this parable? The fact is that everything in the world is relative. The severity of problems depends on only one factor - human perception. Every situation has its advantages, you just need to learn to notice them.

How to do it? You need to take a sheet of paper and divide it into two parts. Write down the negative aspects of the current situation in one column, and the advantages that it brings in the other. For example, losing a job. This is bad? Seems Yes. But the loss of a duty station opens up new prospects for a person. Is divorce a grief? Undoubtedly. But loneliness brings with it a lot of opportunities and advantages. For example, you can go on a trip and pay a much smaller amount for it.

The ability to see the positives in every situation, even the most difficult and bitter, is the basis of how to deal successfully with difficulties in life, not to give in to them and not to attract them to yourself.

Difficulties in life: what are they and how to overcome them

Difficulties arise for absolutely everyone; there is no such person who has not encountered them along the way. At the same time, you shouldn’t despair and feel like the most unhappy person in the world. Don't blame yourself and others, don't give up and don't be surprised.

Some people worry very much and think pessimistically - this can lead to depression, the person begins to become despondent, depressed and feel complete hopelessness. These feelings harm a person and often lead to suicide.

To successfully overcome any serious difficulty, you need to have mental strength, intelligence and flexibility. Try to perceive every difficulty not as a predicament, but as a problem that needs to be solved. Then you will gain invaluable experience.

Searching and identifying troubles

There are several types of difficult and complex life situations; I will give a number of examples from life:

  • Serious stressful shocks that we cannot change: loss of property due to negligence or as a result of fire, theft of a large sum of money, death of a loved one, terminal diagnosis.
  • Average problems (being fired, cheating spouse, lack of money).
  • Psychological obstacles (fear of death, low self-esteem, apathy, depression).
  • Household difficulties (no desire to clean the house, cook, quarrels with parents or spouse, lack of time for household chores).

You must identify the root of the predicament and try to deal with it. If you cannot identify them, sign up for my consultation, together we will overcome all obstacles.

Willpower and ability to fight

Once you look all your obstacles in the eye, they will immediately stop seeming scary. Try to use all your strength and skills to successfully overcome all adversity. Without making efforts, you will not achieve results - which means that the obstacle will not go away from you.

Life difficulties

The presence of difficult moments helps us understand how good our life is without them, we begin to value happiness, and we rush to achieve our goals. If suddenly all difficult situations disappear, we will not be able to compare one with another, and a blurred line will appear between difficulties and joyful events. Everything will become the same and boring. The most important thing when faced with obstacles is to understand that everything will pass and a new stage of life will begin.

Ways to fight

I will list a few tips on how to successfully get out of any difficult situation:

  • Make a list of all your obstacles. Separate the real from the fictitious - unreal, contrived by you. Try talking to your difficulties. Ask why they are present in your life, think carefully about how to fix everything, make an action plan. After carrying out this technique, tear the entire list into several parts and throw it in the trash.
  • Start living here and now. Focus your attention on what is happening in your life at the moment. Enjoy these momentary events, because they can never be returned.
  • Find gaps in knowledge, skills and abilities and fill them. You can engage in self-development on your own or enroll in courses and get the education you want. The main thing is to learn what is new to you.

Exercises that help develop skills to overcome difficulties

Everyday problems are a completely common phenomenon that every person faces. The main thing is to find the right way out and not despair. I will describe several exercises that will help you not to lose yourself and easily get out of a depressed state and indifference.

Relax your muscle tissues

When a person can completely disengage from the whole world, giving his body and brain time to rest, he has endurance. The best way to relax is the yoga exercise “Shavasana”. This is a very useful technique that quickly relieves fatigue and replenishes energy. This training should be carried out every day in the evening, when you have returned from work or are excited about something.

Remember how all representatives of the cat family usually lie. They completely relax, but are always on the alert - at the slightest irritant they are ready to take active action. Try to achieve the same relaxed state. With complete relaxation, you will feel that your skin is freely enveloping the skeleton, like fabric.

Relax your mind

You can start this exercise only after mastering the previous one. Remember the relaxed state that you achieved as a result of “Shavasana” - lightness and serene happiness. Do it again and come up with your own suggestion formula:

  • I am free.
  • I feel serenity and lightness.

This technique quickly restores all your strength, helps you quickly cope with excitement, anxiety, aggression, irritation, and it also provides rest for your brain.

The more often you devote time to this technique, the faster it will bear fruit - you will become calmer, and your willpower will strengthen every day.

Arguments from Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby”

1. The problem of education.

The parents of little Stella Nudolskaya from Olga Gromova’s book “The Sugar Baby” worked a lot and were very busy people, but they always had time to organize intellectual games for the child, teach the girl languages, drawing and singing. For the rest of her life, she remembered the important rules of a “good person” who is not afraid of difficulties, “unties all the knots himself” and knows how to endure. All this helped Stella become truly strong, brave and free.

2. The problem of the role of literature in human life.

The main character of Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby” Stella remembers that books were an important part of their family’s life. They had a wonderful library and a tradition of evening reading aloud. This is how the child developed the idea that a book is a friend, adviser and support in any situation. Later in exile, in a Kyrgyz village, these readings will be resumed for people united by a common misfortune. They will listen to poems and poems by A.S. Pushkin, and the Kyrgyz epic “Manas”. In this way, literature will unite people of different nationalities and ages with different life experiences and education.

The problem of overcoming life's difficulties, perseverance and patience.

The main character of Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby” Stella Nudolskaya and her mother were subjected to repression: they were sent into exile as members of the family of an enemy of the people. It was difficult for a woman who had suffered bone tuberculosis to cope with heavy physical work, she was afraid for the fate of her daughter, but she never complained of pain or fatigue. It was the mother’s fortitude, courage and perseverance that helped her and Stella survive in inhuman conditions and at the same time remain proud, internally free people.

4. The problem of mercy.

The main character of Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby,” Stella, remembers how the Yuzhakovs, risking their freedom, unselfishly helped exiles survive, simply because they saw how difficult it was for a woman and her daughter to cope with poverty and illness. The Yuzhakovs took care of Stella and her mother: they treated them, fed them, helped with the move, and brought food. This is an example of compassion.

5. The role of parental love.

Let us recall the biography of Stella Nudolskaya from Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby”. A woman who has suffered many troubles, injustice and cruelty in her life remembers with gratitude her parents, who treated her with love and always supported her. As a child, they always devoted a lot of time to their daughter: played with her, read books to her, taught her languages. From childhood, Stella learned many truths that helped develop her character, the main one being “Slavery is a state of mind. A free person cannot be made a slave.”

6. The problem of hard work.

An example of a hardworking person is Savely Yuzhakov from Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby”. This man devoted his entire life to hard peasant labor and introduced his children to work from childhood: the boys, along with their father, plowed, sowed, and mowed, the girls helped their mother with everything around the house. In addition, Saveliy carved wood beautifully, felted shoes, and his wife and daughters spun and sewed. The efforts of the whole family bore fruit: the economy of the “Yuzhaks” was strong, despite the difficulties, collectivization, and difficult climate.

7. The problem of finding the meaning of life.

Let us remember Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby,” which tells about the fate of a repressed family. Stella, the main character of the work, more than once wonders what the meaning of life is, what are the guidelines that should be followed on the path of life. Raised, despite all the difficulties, as a free person, Stella considers the increase of goodness to be her main goal in life. Having endured many hardships, even in old age she does not give up her active life position and participates in collecting funds for humanitarian aid to people affected by the earthquake.

8. The problem of the struggle for truth, justice

Let us turn to Olga Gromova’s book “Sugar Baby,” which focuses on the fate of the repressed girl Stella Nudolskaya. The girl, even under the threat of expulsion from the pioneers, which was considered a disgrace in those years, refuses to paint over the portraits of Blucher and Tukhachevsky in the textbook, since she considers them worthy people who contributed to the history of our country. This is a worthy act, showing the strength of character of the heroine of the work.

9. The problem of patriotism

Let's remember Olga Gromova's book “Sugar Baby”. Stella Nudolskaya, the main character of this work, despite the difficulties of the fate of a person who was repressed in childhood and declared a traitor to the homeland by a family member, remains faithful to her Fatherland. She doesn’t even think about emigrating, because she understands that the country is not only the leaders, the government, but also the people, therefore leaving her native land at a difficult time for the Fatherland is impossible, she needs to serve people and do good.

10. The problem of responsibility for moral choice.

Olga Gromova, in her book “Sugar Baby,” reflects on how to make the right moral choice so as not to lose self-respect and not lose human dignity. Stella Nudolskaya, the main character of the work, talks with her mother about why honest and hardworking people who served the people are declared enemies of the people and fists. At the end of the conversation, the girl understands that when evaluating people, you need to “listen to your heart” and think for yourself, and not blindly believe loud words, slogans, accusations and praises. Stella comes to the conclusion that everyone must choose which side they take and be responsible for their own decisions.

11. Friendship problem

Let's turn to Olga Gromova's book "Sugar Baby", in the center of the narrative of which is the fate of Stella Nudolskaya. Having been repressed and finding herself with her mother in distant Kyrgyzstan, the main character of the work understands the value of friendship. When a girl is expelled from the pioneers because she refuses to cross out the portraits of Blucher and Tukhachevsky in the textbook, her comrades do not leave her in trouble. Sapkos and Frida support Stella and remain loyal friends, despite the fact that they could also be condemned for communicating with her.

Keep your muscles tense

This method can develop:

  • patience;
  • equilibrium;
  • endurance.

Sit or stand, raise your arms and keep them at shoulder level. They can be pulled forward or spread to the sides. Try to hold them for a certain time - 15-30 minutes.

If the muscle tissue is poorly developed, it will be difficult for you to complete this exercise, as severe pain will arise, so you need to have the willpower to withstand this test and not lower your arms.

Walk slowly

Take just three steps for a certain time - a few seconds, then increase it to half a minute. The maximum time period is 15 minutes. The movement should not be interrupted, imagine that you are in a slow motion movie. This is a challenging exercise that works every muscle tissue in the entire body. As soon as you get used to this technique, you will immediately feel power over your body. You can easily withstand any trouble.

Summer is coming to an end, schoolchildren have probably read the entire list of literature for the summer. So they need a new list for the fall or something else. Our blogger Ekaterina Buneeva has compiled a list of books “for character building” and invites readers to join in its creation.

What are typical difficult situations in life?

Anyone who has never worked has never encountered trouble. So, I will list the typical unpleasant moments that often arise on our way:

  • New things are always scary. This happens because you cannot fight your fears. Learn to be stronger than them. Write a list of your apathies and come up with a plan to get rid of them. Constantly remind yourself why you are not giving up.
  • Doubts often arise. This is quite normal. Some individuals doubt very often and stop acting. It is necessary to fight uncertainty in your actions.
  • Doing several things at once. Some people are so busy with their self-development that they try to grab onto absolutely everything - studying, reading, learning languages, fitness classes, dancing, work. First you need to make a list, first list the most important skills, then the least important ones. Plan out when and what activities you will do, down to setting a date and time.
  • When mastering one material, another is forgotten. Each skill must be practiced until it becomes automatic. To do this, you need to perform special exercises and training.

Life's difficulties are small stages in our lives that test our strength. They make us more determined and stronger.
