Each family has its own traditions. Traditions unite the whole family, and time spent together becomes interesting and will remain in the memory of family members for a long time.
Family traditions mean something that is passed down from generation to generation, for example, the celebration of a holiday, a family trip or a hike; many examples can be given. And our family is no exception; we have many family traditions.
My family really likes to celebrate different holidays. One of my favorite holidays is Old New Year. We prepare for it in advance. On the day of the celebration, our whole family gathers at our grandmother’s house, where there is already a delicious festive table. According to the long-standing tradition of our family, on the festive table on this day, in addition to dumplings with surprises, there are special dishes.
There is such an old Russian dish as cabbage soup, and today there are more than a hundred recipes for preparing the dish, but our grandmother always cooks with sauerkraut. And she makes it very tasty. Well, to complement this dish, grandma prepares a delicious pie with potatoes and mushrooms. And, of course, dumplings with surprises. My mother and I prepare them. I come up with and write notes with wishes, and my mother is already busy with the process of making dumplings. After having tasted all the delicacies of the festive table, we usually start playing the board game “Loto”. This tradition appeared in our family not so long ago, and it appeared completely by accident. One evening on this day, three years ago, the electricity was turned off along our street, leaving us without light, we were not at a loss, lit candles and started playing Lotto. It was a lot of fun and we decided to do it every year. This is how a new tradition emerged.
Every year this day remains in our memory as a very fun and family holiday. I come up with and write notes with wishes, and my mother is already busy with the process of making dumplings. A celebration that, according to our family traditions, we will pass on to the next generation.
And my favorite tradition is to go with the whole family on an overnight picnic in the summer. This usually happens in mid-July. We come to the bank of the river, settle down and distribute tasks. My dad and I first set up the tent and start roasting the meat over the fire, while my mom and sister usually prepare a salad and lay out the sleeping areas in the tent. By sunset we have a delicious dinner, light a lantern and just talk about everything.
Traditions play a very important role in the family, thanks to them the younger generation determines important values in life, feels more calm and happy.
Essay No. 2
There are many family traditions, many of them and they are all different. Every family has at least one family tradition. Their main feature is that traditions are passed down from generation to generation and unite the family, making it more friendly and united.
I have a very large family, we are all friendly, cheerful and we have many family traditions. Some appeared quite recently, but there are also those that originated during the lifetime of my great-grandparents. One of these long-standing traditions is to go to the river in mid-May and fish. It appeared when my great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers went to work in the fields along the road across the river. And they started stopping to rest near it for fishing, and then they even took a tent with them and stayed there until the morning. Well, when they stopped working in the fields, then this overnight trip to the river became a family tradition. They took my grandfather there, and then he took his children there. Now my dad takes us there, my dad says that everything has changed there since those times. The territory has become more beautiful and well-groomed, and gazebos and barbecues have also appeared. When we arrive there, we have fun with the whole family, play badminton, fish, and then cook fish soup over the fire. Sometimes my uncle and his family join us and then the trip becomes even more fun.
Besides this tradition, we have many other traditions. We love to celebrate holidays. One of my favorites is Easter. Every year on this bright holiday we go to visit our grandmother in the village. And she greets us with delicious pies and my favorite ginger cookies. We help her bake Easter cakes, color boiled eggs and prepare dishes for guests. And early in the morning we go to church services and bless Easter cakes and eggs. After a delicious festive dinner, we arrange our own family checkers tournament. Thanks to my grandfather, I fell in love with this game, and to win against him, you need to work hard, but I can quickly win against my dad. The whole family gathers at the holiday, even relatives come from another city, everyone congratulates each other and gives gifts. We never break this tradition; it is very important for all of us.
Family traditions favorably influence both the younger generation and the older generation. Children have many pleasant memories, their psyche develops more harmoniously and sustainably, and they will also want to pass on these feelings to their children. And adults must take care of all family traditions, observe them and increase them.
Report Family Traditions
We all know that every family has its own unique family traditions. Many families celebrate holidays and family celebrations with relatives, friends and acquaintances at a common table covered with treats. This is the most famous type of family tradition.
But many traditions depend on nationality, on where the family lives, in what state. For example, in England it is customary for the whole family to go to sporting events. And in France you cannot break the rule of eating at the same time. In Israel, it is unacceptable to raise your voice to family members. In America, for example, it is a tradition to accustom children to society from an early age, so that children become accustomed to independence, therefore, upon reaching adulthood, children are separated from their parents. In Germany, it is a tradition to get married late. Most marriages take place after the age of thirty. It follows from this that traditions are not only leisure time spent together, but also a common way of life.
My family members are my mother, father, sister and grandmother. We all try to support each other. Family is the place where they will help you in a difficult life situation, when you know that you have someone to turn to.
My family, of course, also has its own established traditions. Together we try to celebrate all holidays and family celebrations. We invite relatives and friends to our place and set the festive table. Mom always surprises us with her culinary skills; she cooks very tasty food. Well, grandma treats us to her signature pastries. We stay up late, time flies when communicating. We also love to gather around the table and play various games. During the game we laugh, eat cookies and just have fun.
Another of my favorite traditions is a trip with tents into nature. We usually go for a few days in July. We take kayaks with us. Every time we come up with a new, interesting route and raft down the river. We prepare delicious kebabs. We also take our grandmother with us, who, despite her advanced age, tries to keep up with us. She also cooks a very tasty fish soup for us over the fire.
We also have an already established tradition, which I especially like. Every year on Easter, grandma wakes everyone up early, gives everyone an egg and a piece of cut Easter cake, after which they can go back to bed. Grandmother says that it was like this during her childhood and she repeats this ritual after her mother.
It is also a tradition in our family to celebrate the New Year in new clothes so that the year brings happiness and therefore we always wear new dresses.
One of the traditions in some families is family council. At which all family representatives gather. Various problems and situations that have arisen are resolved there, and the family budget is discussed. In order for children to grow up responsible, they should also take part in the family council.
Traditions are divided into: wishing good morning, celebrating family holidays and birthdays and special ones. Special traditions are those that exist in one family. Maybe it's sleeping until lunch on Sundays or going to the cinema or going to the mountains, etc. Traditions can be divided into those that have developed by themselves and acquired traditions. You can create a new tradition; this requires the consent and desire of all family members. And for a tradition to take root in your family, it needs to be remembered, so you need to repeat it repeatedly. All traditions that exist in different families living in different countries unite the family. They teach family members to respect each other and members of the society in which we live.
Family traditions (No. 3)
Almost everyone in this world begins their earthly journey with family. Therefore, family relationships are valued as the most significant, the most essential.
In fact, there is an elementary fact of family care, the transfer of knowledge and experience. After all, it is the family that makes the child able to exist in this world; it is the family that are the people who (most often) treat the child better than anyone else. This is how there are so-called family ties, that is, a connection that lasts forever.
It is in the family that the warmest relationships most often exist. These relationships are supported, among other things, by certain family traditions that are passed on from generation to generation. It’s sad, but now family traditions are being shredded, as is society.
Are there many families now that can boast of centuries-old traditions? Probably, there are not many of them at all, and to a significant extent this fact speaks of the presence in the country of a huge number of so-called “Ivanovs who do not remember their kinship.”
In many ways, this appears in connection with the modern social structure. After all, for example, before, if a person was born into a family that belonged to a certain profession, then in the future he often became a professional in this field. Thus, the traditions of some business were passed down through the centuries.
This involves not only the transfer of practical experience, but also much more. Through their work, people comprehended the world and found inner harmony. They kept deep traditions that included not only professional skill, but also the experience of the entire family.
Nowadays, traditions practically do not exist, but there are, perhaps, habits: going to the cinema with the family, getting together for lunch. In general, there are some models of common behavior that a family can incorporate with certain variations and enjoy it. Of course, there is not much in common with genuine traditions.
Is it worth reviving the tradition of family traditions? This probably makes sense, but is it possible? After all, what we see next is only further separation of family relationships, family values, and traditions. I think so, because with traditions the family is stronger and happier.

Essay Family Traditions
There is no greater happiness in life than having your own, friendly family. This is truly a gift from God, and there is nothing more important than family, since this is support and support from people dear and loving to you. Family in the broad sense of the word is an inseparable part of society. Therefore, sometimes there may be their own unspoken rules or traditions. It is very interesting to have your own traditions in a common circle, especially if they come from the very roots and are passed on by inheritance. They are different in each family, and reflect the views and values of each individual. So I wanted to tell about the tradition of my family, thereby giving a clear example.
Our family traditions are based on sports. So, every year around the end of February, when there is still snow, but the arrival of the long-awaited spring is already blowing, we go to a small town where there is a small ski base. Once upon a time my regional cross-country skiing competitions took place there. When we first arrived there together, we knew we had to spend at least one day a year here.
This is a magnificent place, there are a lot of pine needles, which smell of freshness, large slopes and a wide ski track. We are always lucky with the weather, and we are always greeted by bright sun and dazzling snow. After several tens of kilometers, we, tired, carry our skis on our shoulders to the car, take out some hot coffee and go to the gazebo. Let's clear the snow, sit down and drink a burning, sweet drink. Meanwhile, the sun is setting. It's just the two of us, and we don't need anything else. Finally, we’ll ride a couple of slopes, take a photo as a souvenir, and say goodbye until next year.
When it was time to pack up, we waited until the last minute, but we still had to leave. Meanwhile, the dawn illuminated the tops of the pine trees, and lonely skiers quickly slid down the slopes. She and I were one, and we felt as one, it was good to be together. And our little journey is coming to an end; this is the fifth year we’ve been leaving. The car illuminated the road with its headlights, and we drove home.

Why are family traditions needed?
We all come from childhood. Growing up, we transfer the traditions and rituals instilled in our parents’ family into our own. Some of them lose value, and some we come up with and start on our own.
Why is it so important to have traditions?
1. They help strengthen family relationships. Many can remember how pleasant and fun it is to decorate a Christmas tree for the New Year. General pre-holiday mood, feeling of joy, expectation of a miracle. The smell of pine needles and cheerful lights on the ceiling. Family unity during preparation for the main holiday of the year.
2. Maintain connection with history, continuity of generations. To this day, some families have a tradition of naming children after relatives, such as grandparents. The creation of dynasties of certain professions (doctors, artists, military men, teachers, etc.) can also be attributed to a family tradition.
3. Create common interests of all family members. Indicative in this case is the tradition of making greeting cards with your own hands. A surprise card is prepared together with the children for each family member for a birthday or some other holiday. What are family traditions?
Family determines a person's belonging to his family. Within each cell of society, certain foundations, customs and norms are formed. These are family traditions. Some claim that they do not have any generally accepted rituals, but the usual wish of good night before going to bed or the words “Good morning!” may be one of the varieties of family traditions.
Family rituals can be small or, conversely, very large-scale. In some close-knit and friendly families, they result in real holidays among relatives. So, for example, celebrating the New Year can turn into a meeting of all relatives, which occurs under certain circumstances once a year.
Family traditions in Russia
Family traditions (examples for children can be varied: drinking tea, playing together) in Russia have their own national characteristics. They are aimed at knowledge and pride in the history of the Russian people and the Russian state.
- Family tree. Compiling your family tree in the form of a tree with roots (ancestors) and branches (younger generation) is a good tradition of many Russian families. In some schools, this is a required summer assignment. To complicate the task, you can paste photos of your ancestors, paying tribute to each of them.
Example of family traditions for children: family tree. This tradition will teach the child to respect and value his ancestry - Pass on family heirlooms from generation to generation. Usually this is a very expensive (or simply memorable) thing that has its own history: a box, a piece of jewelry, a vase, a silver spoon. Along with the relic, the legend or history of the acquisition of this item is also transmitted.
- To name a born child in honor of some great or simply dear ancestor. As the child grows, parents tell him who he owes his name to. Thanks to this tradition, the names of the founders of the clans continue to be heard in the modern world.
- Pass on a family craft or profession to new generations. Russia knows entire dynasties of confectioners, agronomists, musicians, and doctors. To continue the work of ancestors and parents is a matter of honor for many to this day.
- Russian feast. Greeting guests at a wide table rich in all kinds of snacks and drinks is a native Russian and very ancient tradition. They still love to give treats. Many peoples are surprised by the quantity and variety of Russian dishes.
Several more popular Russian traditions are given in the table:

Traditions and values of my family
Family... A good word... Penetrates into the very heart and never lets go... Why does it evoke so many violent emotions?
Family is a huge support and support. This is a single strong organism, the main function of which is to preserve the hearth and maintain a favorable atmosphere. These are people who, under any circumstances, take your side and try in every possible way to help you get out of a difficult situation, without demanding anything in return.
Thanks to this foundation, laid by each family member from early childhood, a person develops certain qualities, his own attitude towards the environment, and acquires his own values. But one of the most important tasks of my family is not only the moral and spiritual component of our beloved child, but also the transmission of traditions from generation to generation.
In my family, children have always been considered the most important value, nothing else. A child is a continuation of the family, hope and support for loved ones. Therefore, it is impossible to do without such a basis as education.
One of the important traditions for my relatives is the creation of their own strong family, which under any circumstances should avoid the word “divorce”. This is connected, first of all, with the desire to provide future children with maximum care from two adults who have decided to be together, with the need to give everything positive and warm to their child for his internal development.
A child without at least one parent in the house is already a deep trauma for a growing organism, which at the very beginning of its formation incorporates into its moral component the concept of duty and responsibility. That is why divorce is a negative word that carries negative energy. It is not capable of making a child happy who is born and wants to enjoy family life and trips to nature... The only problem is that many adults often do not allow the child’s opinion to be taken into account during a divorce. That’s why there are so many of us who consider themselves lost in life...
In addition, without the full participation of two parents, the child is not able to clearly build a picture of the creation and prosperity of his own family. Without knowing how relationships between lovers are built, it is difficult to imagine the birth of your own child.
That is why the main thing in my family is the successful construction of our own cozy home unit of society, in which harmony and mutual understanding will prevail. In any situation, you need to understand that sometimes it’s worth living not only for yourself, but also for your loved ones...
