Essay on the topic: “Human rights in the modern world”

What does it mean to be a modern person?

Having asked the question “What does it mean to be a modern person?”, I decided to do some research. My goal was to identify the main features of my contemporaries and, ultimately, to depict a portrait of a modern person. But, having looked a little closer at the people around me, I realized that my maximum achievement would be a snapshot of people always rushing somewhere. Armed with everything I needed, I went out onto the city streets. So, what is he like, modern man?

Firstly, the existence of modern man is closely connected with the technical achievements of progress. It has penetrated into all areas of human life: from household appliances in the kitchen and mobile phones in the pocket to high-tech computers in the office and miraculous technology in clinics. Modern man is powerful thanks to technology and helpless without it.

Modern man works with a lot of information, because we live in the information age. It tends to update instantly, so my contemporaries have a quick reaction and good learning ability.

Modern man is a bearer of progressive views. He destroys in his consciousness (and the entire surrounding reality contributes to this in every possible way) stereotypes and patterns that prevent him from living and developing freely. He strives for harmony with himself and the whole world. Modern man is a mobile man. He is always ready to be on the other side of the city, on the other side of the country, on another continent. This is required by our era, for which there are no barriers or divisions.

Modern man is active and energetic. Modern man works a lot, so he has almost no free time. A modern person cares about his health and appearance, so he always plays sports (at least plays cards or billiards), visits beauty salons and fashion shows.

A modern person is a person who is confident in himself and looks boldly into the future.

The photographic positive of modern man is complete. But, like any photograph, ours also has a negative side.

Modern man, especially those living in a big city, is very lonely. Today people have largely forgotten how to communicate with each other and spend time together. Personal communication is replaced by the telephone, TV, and computer. Often people's circle of interests is narrowed to their immediate job responsibilities, and at home they prefer to stare blankly at TV.

A modern person “lives” at work, he has no time to relax and marvel at the beauty of a blossoming tree near his house or simply smile at a passing girl.

Modern man lives in a constant rush, in pursuit of success, money, and career. From this, his life turns into constant stress, developing into insomnia and depression. It is a fact that in the modern world the number of mental illnesses, various phobias and nervous disorders has increased.

But...stop! Our description turns out to be somewhat superficial. The most interesting thing for me is to learn about the feelings and experiences, dreams and problems of modern man. I especially want to penetrate into the inner world of the younger generation. Erlend Lu’s novel “Naive. Super". His hero, a modern young man, is experiencing an internal crisis in connection with his growing up: “I suddenly reached a point where everything lost interest for me.” Having celebrated his 25th birthday, the young man evaluates his life and comes to sad conclusions: “But here’s what I don’t have:

- plans,

- inspiration,

- girls,

- feelings that everything is somehow connected and should end well, ... "

This plunges the hero into a state of despondency, because “several things on the list of missing items seem to me absolutely necessary in order to live the way I would like.”

In order to somehow understand himself, the young man breaks with old connections and retires to his brother’s apartment. There, for the first time, he thinks seriously and deeply about himself and about his loved ones, about the people with whom life confronts him. A young man observes and tries to understand the life of the modern society of which he is a member. The hero observes nature, reflects on the laws of the Universe. He understands that he simply needs “to suddenly discover the causal connection of things. I would understand the essence of things and phenomena. I would see the logic of world events and human behavior. I would also learn to control myself and bring out in people the manifestations of the best that is in every person...”

Throughout the novel, doubting, worrying and learning, the hero moves towards his cherished goal. Of course, in the final he does not achieve it, because this goal is global. You need to go to it all your life. But the conclusions that the hero comes to at the end of the novel are very comforting. They allow us to assert that the young man passed the test that life and human nature had in store for him with honor: “I still don’t know what the connection of things is and whether everything will be fine in the end.

But I believed that there are important things.

I believe in cleansing the soul through play and fun.

I also believe in love.

And I have several good friends and only one bad one.

And my brother is also handsome and, certainly, no worse than me.”

Using the example of E. Lu’s novel “Naive. Super” I wanted to show that no matter how externally human life changes, no matter how far civilization goes, internally a person changes very little. Modern man is concerned with all the same eternal problems that people had centuries ago. My contemporary is also looking for himself, looking for his love and happiness, trying to understand the laws of the Universe, striving to improve the world in which he lives. And that, I think, is wonderful. It is the unchanging human basis, in my opinion, that allows a person to remain a Human. To suffer, to search, to learn, to make life better...

Essay on a work on the topic: What does it mean to be modern

We all live in a time of rapidly developing technologies, the progress of science and technology. This movement manifests itself in all areas of life. Electronics are improving every day: computers, photo and video cameras, television, video and audio equipment, mobile communications. This list can be continued endlessly. The number of different branches of production, trade, and services is increasing; Many new sciences, new specialties and professions are appearing. Fashion changes, views on art and culture change. And all this rapidly developing life requires that we develop along with it, keep up with all its innovations and changes. I believe that this is precisely the distinctive characteristic of modern man.

Some people are afraid of this rapidity, they do not want to take risks, trying themselves in new professions, they cannot navigate new technologies, and they do not strive for this. These people adhere to old views on life. They want familiar, stable work, where everything is known in advance, standard mechanisms have been worked out, and any errors are practically excluded. But such people seem to me unadapted to new conditions. Yes, the present time requires a person to demonstrate great willpower, patience, firmness, the ability to navigate the environment, and perseverance in achieving one’s goals. We may make mistakes more often, but we learn from them. We change our views, hobbies, and passions more often than our parents. But I think that it is very interesting to live like this, that such a time, such an environment, brings up new, more resilient people and adapted to the world around them. Isn’t it interesting to constantly be in the center of events, follow the development of life, improve and reach new heights? Modern life makes great demands, but it also opens up great opportunities for self-realization.

All this applies to us, schoolchildren. It would seem that we still have everything ahead - study, enjoy life and youth. Of course, we have many reasons to enjoy life. But the life of a student cannot and should not be limited to study and entertainment. Already now we need to delve into the meaning of life changes, into the development of science and production. We will soon be faced with a choice - where to go next, what path to choose in life, who to become. How to quickly navigate a large number of professions and specialties? How to find among them interesting and at the same time promising? It is no secret that many, even quite interesting and once necessary professions, become outdated and lose their relevance. Therefore, from the earliest years, to the best of your ability, you need to join in the general development. It’s good that they have now begun to understand this, and students are given all the opportunities.

Now we have become more independent and, in my opinion, this is very good. Independence in our time is a very necessary quality. Of course, this does not mean permissiveness. Parents always have the right to guide their children, notice their obvious mistakes and misconceptions, correct them, explain and teach them. And no one took away from children the responsibility to listen to the advice of their elders and respect their opinions. But parents cannot completely subjugate us and influence our choice of future path. Because even many of their views, which were recently considered new, are already a passed stage for us.

Yes, in addition to professions and science, everything is new with us: new fashion, new clothing styles, new music, new films, new games, a new understanding of art. This does not mean that it is necessarily bad or wrong. After all, even the sympathies of our parents in all these areas differ significantly from the ideas and preferences of our grandparents. And the views of our future children, it is possible, will be completely different from ours. But this only means that we all live in different times, that time is constantly changing, and, therefore, we must change in order to keep up with life.

It is we, the youth, who have been given the wonderful right to build our future lives, open new horizons, and make the world even more interesting and perfect. And to be aware of this right, to grasp the slightest new trends, opportunities and prospects, and means, in my opinion, to be modern.
