The description of dogs, their activities, and the features of the story about them change over time. If earlier the breed was not mentioned at all, then in the 19th century the characters became more diverse, the breed was described, hunting and even the “inner world” were added to the guard service, which writers began to describe only later. Features of the historical era and literary movements, if desired, can also be tracked by changes in the images of dogs. Thus, Gogol gives a succinct description of a puppy in “Dead Souls,” and Tolstoy in “Anna Karenina” talks through dogs about the pastime and traits of some of the characters. This trend changes over time: through the image of a dog, not just the leisure time or characteristics of the hero are shown, but his actions, his actions, his fate.
