The main idea of the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault for a reader's diary

The plot of the work

The royal couple has long dreamed of having children.
One day a miracle happens. The king and queen have a daughter. A luxurious celebration is held at the palace. Not only people, but also fairies are invited to attend. Seven sorceresses are invited to present unique gifts to the newborn girl. At the height of the celebration, the eighth fairy appears. They forgot to invite her because no one had seen her for a long time. Everyone believed that this fairy had died. She was seated with honors at the table, but was not given gold cutlery, like other fairies. They were made specifically for the number of sorceresses invited. This greatly offended the eighth fairy.

When the time came to give gifts to the newborn princess, the offended fairy predicted that the girl would die in the prime of her youth. This will happen when she pricks herself with a spindle. The seventh fairy, who did not have time to give the girl a gift, consoled the king and queen. She promised that the girl would not die, but would only fall asleep for a hundred years. Then the charming prince will wake her up with a kiss.

After the holiday, the king issued a decree to destroy all spinning wheels and spindles in the kingdom. But this did not save the princess. At the age of 15, she pricked herself with a spindle when she wandered into an old tower. There the old fairy sat with a spinning wheel at work. The curious girl also tried a new type of needlework. Thus the prophecy of the eighth fairy came true.

The girl fell asleep soundly. The seventh fairy immediately found out about this and softened the curse of the offended sorceress. She arrived at the palace and consoled the princess's parents. They left the castle, and the fairy touched the entire royal retinue and guards with her magic wand. She wanted the princess to see familiar faces when she woke up and not feel alone.

The king issued an order that no one should dare approach this castle. Many years later. A dense forest surrounded the castle. One day a handsome prince arrived there to hunt. He heard from a peasant the legend of the sleeping beauty and decided to look at her. The thickets themselves parted before him as he moved towards the castle.

When the prince entered the castle, he found a dazzlingly beautiful princess. He knelt down by her bed, and the girl woke up from her sleep. The young people liked each other and got married.

Main characters

Based on the title of the fairy tale, one can assume that the main character is a girl - Sleeping Beauty herself. But she is not the only heroine - there are other characters in the story, whose role is no less important.

The main characters are:

  1. Sleeping Beauty is a young princess, the only daughter of the old king and queen. At the beginning of the story, she was just born, the fairy godmothers endowed her with many virtues, making her the most beautiful, kind, talented and smart. Unfortunately, due to a mistake by her parents, she fell under a spell and fell asleep for 100 years along with the entire castle and servants. The brave prince woke her up with a kiss.
  2. The prince is a brave young man, the son of the reigning king. While hunting, he saw an enchanted castle and learned the legend of the enchanted princess. Curious, he made his way through the thickets and found the girl. Enchanted by her beauty, he kissed the princess and woke her up.
  3. 7 good fairies - princess godmothers. They were invited to the princess's birthday party and gave her many wonderful gifts: beauty, a kind heart, an inquisitive mind, a beautiful voice, the ability to dance and play all musical instruments. One of the fairies, the seventh, reduced the effect of the evil spell and was almost able to save the princess.
  4. The evil witch is an old sorceress who was not invited to the holiday. She cast a spell on the princess, only a lucky chance helped to remove it.
  5. The king and queen are the princess's elderly parents, caring and loving. By not inviting the evil fairy to the holiday, they provoked her anger and unwittingly became the cause of the curse.
  6. An old peasant is a resident of a neighboring village. He told the prince the story of the enchanted castle and the princess, after which the young man decided to try his luck.

In addition, the text mentions the servants of the king and queen, the prince's retinue. In some versions of the fairy tale, there is a woman with a spindle - this is an old woman who sat in the castle tower (according to other versions, an evil fairy in disguise). She handed the princess a spindle and pricked her.

Review of the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty”

I liked this story about the sleeping princess, although it is difficult to identify any central character in it. Everyone is equally important to this plot and does almost nothing. Maybe only the prince bravely walked through the forest and this can be called a feat.

Proverbs for the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty”

You can't escape fate, everyone has their own cross. The betrothed will find it on the stove. Not every find is a treasure. The only thing sweeter than sleep is life.

Read a summary, a brief retelling of the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty”

Once upon a time there lived a king and a queen, and for a long time they had no children. But suddenly a daughter was born, and to celebrate, the king threw a grand feast, inviting all the neighbors to it. And of course, the king invited seven fairies who lived nearby, because he thought that they would give the newborn princess magical gifts. However, in the midst of the feast, the eighth fairy appeared, the oldest, whom everyone had forgotten about, because they thought that she had died. This fairy appeared and was offended that she did not have enough gold cutlery. And now it's time to give gifts. The first fairies wished the newborn beauty, intelligence, and the ability to dance, and the old fairy wished to die from a spindle prick. Everyone who heard this prophecy almost died of fear. But it turned out that the seventh fairy deliberately let the old fairy go ahead in order to be able to correct her prediction, because she suspected this fairy of evil intentions. And the seventh fairy said that in fact the princess would not die, but would simply fall asleep for a hundred years, and then the handsome prince would wake her up. The king, of course, banned spindles and spinning wheels in the kingdom, but this did not help. Fifteen years later, at the very top of the old tower, the princess found an ancient old woman with a spinning wheel and pricked her finger. She immediately fell asleep, as the fairy had predicted. And the king sent a messenger for the good fairy, and when the fairy arrived, she made sure that all her ladies-in-waiting, servants, butler and dog fell into sleep along with the princess. Even fire and water fell asleep. Only the king and queen remained awake. They went to their capital and forbade their subjects to approach the sleeping castle. And around the castle there is a thick and thorny forest. A hundred years have passed. Many kings have changed. The castle has long been forgotten. And in its vicinity a young prince was hunting. He noticed a high tower and asked the servants what kind of castle was located in the middle of the forest. One of them, the oldest, told the prince a legend about the sleeping princess, and the prince wanted to see the princess with his own eyes. He went to the castle, and the forest parted before him, closing immediately behind him, so that not a single servant could make his way after the prince. And the prince reached the castle and saw people sleeping around. At first the prince took them for dead, but then he realized that they were just sleeping. He climbed to the highest tower and saw a beautiful princess. The prince liked her so much that he knelt before the princess, and at that very moment she opened her eyes. The princess saw the prince and fell in love with him. And the lovers stood and looked at each other for a long time. Meanwhile, everyone in the castle woke up and was very hungry. Therefore, the old lady-in-waiting risked informing the princess that breakfast had been served. The prince led the princess into the hall, and the princess was not embarrassed that her dress was old-fashioned, because the prince did not tell her about it. And then there was a wedding and everyone was happy.

The main idea of the fairy tale is that without bad there would be no good.

The main idea of the fairy tale is that if the princess had not fallen asleep as predicted by the fairy, she would not have found her happiness.

A short review of the fairy tale “The Sleeping Beauty” for the reader’s diary

After reading this fairy tale, I was delighted with its happy ending.

It all started very badly.

But the prediction was softened.

And yet the cheerful girl fell asleep for a hundred years.

This seemed unfair to me, because the princess was not to blame for the fact that her parents forgot about the old fairy.

She was responsible for the mistakes of others.

But everything ended well and the prince found the sleeping princess.

The author managed to create a captivating story about love and finding happiness.

It contained evil and gloomy predictions.

There were attempts to escape the blows of fate.

And there was a happy ending.

I really like the main character.

She is shown as a kind, inquisitive, cheerful girl.

And she deserved her happiness with the prince.

I recommend everyone to read this fairy tale and think that revenge is never right.

Moreover, you cannot make responsible decisions on a hot head.

You may regret this later.

Proverbs for the work:

Everyone has their own bitter grievances.

It’s hard for those who remember evil.

The evil one cries from envy, and the good one from joy.

You can't run away from fate.

Fate will come and tie your hands.

The passage that struck me most:

- What it is? – the girl asked.

“This is a spinning wheel and a spindle,” answered the inhabitant of the tower.

– What are you doing about it? – the princess did not let up.

“I spin,” answered the old woman. - Sit down, baby. I'll teach you this quickly.

- Oh, how funny this is! – the princess exclaimed and touched the spindle.

Suddenly a sharp pain pierced her right palm, and the girl pulled her hand away.

A drop of blood glistened on his ring finger.

Plot

Once upon a time there lived a king and a queen, and for a long time they dreamed of having a child. When their long-awaited daughter was born, the king arranged a luxurious peace, inviting all his friends and neighbors to it.

Among those invited were seven fairies - the king hoped that the good sorceresses would give his baby wonderful magical gifts. Suddenly, in the midst of the fun, the oldest and most unsociable fairy appeared, about whom everyone had long forgotten. She was very offended that she was not given due attention and was not given gold cutlery like everyone else.

Immediately after the feast, the king ordered the destruction of every single spinning wheel and spindle in the kingdom. However, exactly fifteen years later, the princess accidentally wandered to the very top of the old tower, where she met that same old fairy with a spinning wheel. She pricked her finger and fell into a deep sleep, and with her everyone who lived in the kingdom.

A dense forest grew around the castle, and everyone forgot about it. A hundred years later, a young prince, who was hunting in these parts, passed by. Having heard an ancient legend about a beautiful sleeping princess, he really wanted to see her with his own eyes. The dense thickets parted before the prince, and he found himself in the castle, where he found the princess and woke her up. The young people fell in love with each other at first sight and got married.

Summary

Abstract of the work: this is a story about a princess who was bewitched by an evil sorceress, after which the girl fell into an uninterrupted sleep for a hundred years, waiting for her savior.
“The Sleeping Beauty,” the plot of which is known to almost everyone, became the first story in the collection “Tales of Mother Goose” published by Charles Perrault. The fairy tales “Rike with the Tuft” and “Cinderella” were also published in it. The first of them is half forgotten today, but everyone remembers the second.

However, it was the tale of Sleeping Beauty that came first. This suggests that for Charles Perrault she was a favorite. In his presentation, the whole story looks like this: once upon a time there lived a king and a queen who dreamed of children for a long time. And so, when their long-awaited daughter was finally born, they decided to have a celebration. All the fairy sorceresses of the kingdom were invited to the palace for a feast, except for one, whom no one had seen for a long time, because she had not left her tower for more than 50 years. Be that as it may, this witch came to the holiday without an invitation.

The guests presented the girl with their gifts. Among the guests were kind sorceresses, each of whom awarded the little girl with dignity: beauty, talent, virtue. One of them could not remove the curse placed on the princess, but softened it: the girl will not die, but will fall into a deep sleep until the prince saves her, kissing her with sincere love.

Beware of the fulfillment of the prediction, the king ordered the removal of all sharp and piercing objects from the castle. Sixteen years have passed. Walking around the castle, the princess entered a distant room. Seeing an old woman spinning yarn, the girl became interested in the spindle. Taking it in her hands, she injected herself and fell into a deep sleep for a hundred years. Together with her, the entire castle plunged into an age-old sleep.

A prince from a neighboring kingdom, hunting in the forest, ends up in an enchanted castle. Seeing the sleeping beauty, he falls in love and wakes her up with his kiss.
