The Great Patriotic War... These words are sacred for every Russian person. The further the events of this war go into the past, the more precious are the memories, documents and evidence of these days for us. An unlearned history lesson threatens not only a bad grade, but also a repetition of the terrible past. What does the word “war” mean to us? Fear, pain, death. The death of not just an abstract person, but a brother, husband, father, son. In the post-war years, there was not a family that did not have someone left lying on the battlefield. The remains of missing soldiers are still being found and buried with honor.
It seems to us that the passions raging in the lives of young people are moving away from them the heroic history of the Great Patriotic War. This is wrong. Look at the faces of the young men and women at wreath-laying events, rallies, and meetings with war veterans. Their tears shine and their lips tremble, and their voice breaks when they say words of gratitude to the older generation. And the heroes of modern history also die in battle for their homeland. We can give many examples from the Chechen, Afghan, and now Syrian wars.
Readiness for heroism... Where does it come from? We know many heroes, but there are names that we have to discover for ourselves and our descendants. Young Guards, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, Nikolai Gastello, pioneers - heroes, Dmitry Ovcharenko... It is impossible to list all the heroes. We need to know their exploits and not allow them to be forgotten.
Every battle of the Great Patriotic War proves the tenacity and courage of the Soviet people. Stalingrad, Leningrad, the Battle of Rzhev, the Kursk Bulge... Witnesses of these battles remember hell, where it was necessary to survive in order to win. Millions of people died to win us a happy future.
A person can do a lot. For the boys who went to the front, sometimes one battle, one hour was enough to become history. They died, but for one hour victory became closer. No matter how many years have passed since the end of the Great Patriotic War, we will remember the names of our heroes.

In honor of the victory, our country celebrates Victory Day every year. We will not forget our heroes, who lost their lives in their young years. Everyone must fight for a peaceful situation in our country.

But the patriotism, courage and unsurpassed willpower of the Russian people did not allow the enemy to pass through. Soviet soldiers boldly looked death in the eye, defending their Motherland, their family and friends.
The Great Patriotic War was a terrible event for any family. After all, in every home the memory of the feat of great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers is still alive. While we remember our dear heroes who did not find a peaceful clear sky, who gave their lives for the sake of the Motherland, and the veterans who survived this cruel war, we honor them, they remain in our hearts. It is painful to realize that there are fewer and fewer people who survived this war. But thanks to them, the modern generation lives happily, peacefully and with smiles on their faces. The ninth of May is Victory Day, this holiday brings tears to the eyes of veterans, because the mental wounds inflicted by the Nazis can never be forgotten.
We can judge the events of the war years from films, books, historical chronicles, and television programs. There is currently a lot of such material. I would like to note that the Russian people depict those terrible events of the war years with great enthusiasm in films, paintings and books. The manifestation of the fortitude and courage of civilians is the Moscow, Stalingrad battles, the Belarusian and Berlin operations. These and many other bloody and turning-point battles determined the course of all history.
There were battles in big cities and small villages. Young girls and boys, having matured too early, worked in the rear or joined the partisans. Valentina Kotik, Olga Yurkina, Alexander Matrosov, Elizaveta Chaikina, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya and a huge number of young people defended their Motherland, despite such a young age. They had no fear, they looked into the eyes of the enemy and their death, desperately defending their country. The unique feat of the partisans, very young girls and boys who, behind enemy lines, did everything to defend their Motherland will remain in the hearts of people forever. Even by touch, having no idea about the tactics and strategy of military operations, with only rifles and grenades, they fought for freedom.
By the will and blood of the Soviet people, victory was achieved over a ruthless enemy. It is impossible to imagine the greatness of the feat of Soviet soldiers. We, the descendants of these heroically dead people, must remember them not only on the victory holiday, but also find time amid the bustle of everyday life to honor them. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War deserved attention not only from their family and friends, but also from those around them and, of course, the state for which they fought.
In my opinion, Russia managed to drive Hitler’s army beyond its borders, as well as liberate other countries from fascist oppression. The Soviet people showed all the power and greatness of our state.
Thanks to the experience and skill of the great commanders, marshals and generals who built a strategy, went into battle together with their companies, showing by personal example what patriotism is, we won. Don't forget such great people as Marshal G.K. Zhukov - three times hero of the Soviet Union, K.E. Voroshilov - coordinator of troops during the siege of Leningrad, K.K. Rokossovsky is one of the most titled military leaders. The list of these people can be long enough, but the most important thing is to know and remember their contribution to the victory.
In peacetime, in the age of high technology, it’s scary to even think about what war is. Death, destruction, tears and torment of people make us think about the events of those heroic years. It is sad to realize that modern youth pays less and less attention to the military era, and there are fewer and fewer veteran eyewitnesses who are able to convey to us the innermost secrets of that time.
I want to believe that only a peaceful blue sky will delight us and that future generations will remember those who accomplished a feat in the name of the Motherland. After all, it is thanks to these people that we live in a free country. It’s so wonderful to wake up and realize that you have a wonderful day ahead, in which there is no place for hunger, cold and terrible torment. Eternal memory to the people who died in that war and low regards to the survivors.

In the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the Soviet army won in an unequal battle against Nazi Germany, and there is not a single person who did not know about this, but, unfortunately, few people think about what forces and at what cost we got this Victory .
Even the very word “war” strikes horror in the heart of any person, because people know that it is always pain, grief and suffering that makes children lose their fathers, women are turned into widows, and elderly parents are deprived of their beloved children. The most important war of our people was the most difficult test for everyone. Men of all ages went to fight: from young to old. Not everyone returned, some were wounded, but even those who returned alive remembered these terrible, bloody events forever. There was not a single family that was not affected by this terrible time. Even women and children tried to help, standing for days in various factories and plants producing the necessary things. People died from exhaustion right at their workplaces, working without stopping, eating or sleeping, therefore, even those who were not present on the battlefield gave their lives for the sake of their native land.
Everyone contributed in one way or another to the victory of the Soviet army. Sometimes it seemed that we could not win, because the strength of the Nazis was enormous, they had the latest weapons, while at the same time our soldiers were literally told to get them on the battlefield. During the great war of the twentieth century, real heroes emerged. The desire of people to protect their native land forced them to come face to face with death. It was manifested in the determination of many citizens of the Union of Republics to direct all their forces to defeat the invaders. It was the strength of spirit of the Russian people and faith in a bright future that helped defeat the Nazis.
In conclusion, I would like to say that more than twenty million people died during the war. Our land that we walk on is literally soaked in the blood of soldiers who gave their lives for their native country. Therefore, we need to think about the wars that we see now. We must not allow another war; we must remember at what cost this difficult Victory and this peace over our heads were achieved. I believe that we simply do not have the right to forget about these times.

These were very difficult times, which dealt a colossal blow to the destinies of people, and the loss of 27 million inhabitants of the USSR clearly proves how terrible and terrible that war was. Only thanks to the smart actions of the commanders of the Red Army and the dedication and heroism of ordinary people, we were able to win that war, and this must be conveyed to new generations so that they do not forget at what great cost the victory was given to our soldiers. This is truly a great victory!
