I once read a quote from Cicero that stuck with me: “I value reading without any pleasure.” I completely agree with this great man, you get pleasure from reading only when the book captivates you, and you can return to it constantly and find something new, interesting and exciting every time. Such a book for me was the novel by the English writer Daniel Defoe “Robinson Crusoe”.
Several times I re-read the wonderful pages of the novel, which fascinated me more and more. “The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe” told me about how the “sailor from York” experienced the painful loneliness. Finding himself after a shipwreck on a desert island, he managed to live on it for twenty-eight years, first completely alone, and later with the savage Friday.
My admiration for the hero of the novel is limitless. He did not shy away from the test sent to him, mastered the island, started a farm. Robinson Crusoe talks in detail about how he organized his life, trying to provide himself with everything necessary for life. Of course, at first Robinson was overcome by despair, like any sane person, but fortitude, perseverance and work helped him survive the unequal battle with loneliness.
Crusoe remembers his former life and turns to reading the Bible, which he captured from the ship, he has a lot of time to comprehend his actions, and he concludes for himself that all the troubles that happened to him are natural. This is punishment for his disobedience to his parents' will. Finding himself alone with nature and with himself, the hero of the work was able to see his shortcomings and rethink his life. In his new position, he looks at life and spiritual values differently.
Robinson not only had to rethink his life, but also learn to survive among the wild nature, he had to master the craft of a tailor, potter, grow a wheat crop from a few grains, make a calendar and learn to do a lot of things with his own hands.
One of the hardest tests for the hero of the novel is the lack of human communication; his friends were a dog and a cat, whom he captured from a ship; later he taught the parrot to clearly pronounce words and it was very pleasant to listen to him. Robinson had to live more than twenty years before he met a man. When savages - cannibals landed on the island to have a feast, he rescues one of the prisoners and gives him the name Friday. And again, work, Robinson masters the profession of a teacher and transfers all his knowledge to the native, teaches him English.
I believe that Daniel Defoe’s novel “Robinson Crusoe” is a kind of hymn to man.
You can read this book all your life and find something new for yourself every time. When I read the adventure novel for the first time, I liked the interesting story about the life of a man on a desert island. A year later, I read the novel again and felt completely differently about what I read. I realized how strong, courageous and persistent a person can be if he sets a goal and works hard to achieve it. I think that if in a few years I read the novel “Robinson Crusoe” again, I will discover a lot of new things for myself, but, perhaps, I will not cease to admire an ordinary person who was able to survive in harsh conditions.

The main character of this work is a very unusual person who obviously deserves special attention. That is why it is worth considering in detail his image, character and behavior. Robinson, the main character of this great work, was the only one of the entire crew who was able to survive during an incredibly strong storm. However, Crusoe found himself on a desert island all alone. In my opinion, not everyone could overcome such extreme conditions and survive. He did not have a lot of things necessary for life. Any person in his place would simply give up, he would give up, but not Robinson. He, in the likeness of ancient people, tried to invent something new suitable for use. It was this desire that helped Robinson find a home, get food, and organize his own civilization. Loneliness is a terrible thing for anyone on our planet. Everyone is trying to surround themselves with close people and friends. Therefore, it was extremely difficult for Robinson to live without a comrade who could help, listen, and support. It was for this reason that his joy knew no bounds when, after several years of loneliness, he finally had a comrade - Friday, who later became his best friend. Robinson sought communication, so he gladly sheltered the former cannibal and gave him a name in honor of the day they met. By their communication we can judge the character of each of them. To some extent, Robinson acted as Friday's mentor. He tried to help him, but he himself needed his help. Their union became unbreakable. Friendship helped them both survive many dangerous situations, because two heads are better than one, especially if they want to help each other. Defoe in his work shows what people can be. He portrays his hero, Robinson, as a brave, bold, courageous man, capable of finding a way out of any seemingly hopeless situation, saving not only himself, but also other people. Liberation from the desert island became a kind of reward for all his many years of effort and hard work. The main idea of the entire novel is expressed in the aphorism of the author himself: “In every situation you will find something good if you look hard enough.” So let's strive for the best and look for the good in every day of our lives. Robinson Crusoe is an adventure story by Daniel Defoe. I really liked her. The book has a fascinating plot. The main character of the book is Robinson Crusoe, an Englishman. Since childhood, his parents wanted him to take a responsible approach to choosing his life path and stick to the middle. But Robinson was careless. He did not listen to his parents and ignored their advice. He was attracted by the sea and travel. “Without warning either his father or mother about his departure, he boarded the ship and left his family forever.” Robinson acted rashly. Having started the life he dreamed of, he faced many difficulties for which he was not at all prepared. But fate was kind to Robinson. He was the only one saved after a shipwreck, ending up on a desert island. At first, on the island, he experiences despair, melancholy and loneliness. The desire to survive forces Robinson to begin organizing his life. The money that he previously valued now turned out to be unnecessary rubbish; working tools, knives, and a gun became much more important. Robinson was faced with a choice: either live in harmony with the wild nature and avoid possible dangers, act thoughtfully and wisely, or simply die on this island. Gradually, step by step, Robinson learned to live in a new way: to hunt, grow rice and barley, build a home, make cheese from goat's milk, make pottery, sew clothes from skins. Thanks to hard daily work, his energy and perseverance, Robinson was able to stay alive and make the uninhabited island livable. On an island far from people, Robinson did not turn into a savage, into an animal. He remained human and became more merciful than before. He came to the rescue of a stranger and saved him from death. Friday became his friend and assistant. Now Robinson was not so lonely, he had someone to talk to, share his grief and joy. Leaving the island, Robinson took Friday with him. Anyone can find themselves in a difficult situation, but in any situation you need to remain a Man with a capital H, be strong in spirit, not lose faith in the best, show persistence in achieving your goal, be brave and hardworking.

Robinson always knew what things could be useful to him. And, if some ship crashed near his island, he took out everything he needed from there. He worked hard and really wanted to come home, so he was lucky. I believe that if you want to achieve something in life, you need to work hard and dream, then you will succeed, like Robinson.
