- Golden autumn
The painting depicts the end of August - beginning of September. Gold autumn. People call this time “Indian summer”. The warmth returns for about two weeks and the days are fine. The picture depicts just one of these days.
It is clear that the artist loves Russian nature, loves golden autumn. The picture is painted so realistically that you can feel the warmth of the sun coming from it. And these birch trees on the hill in the foreground of the picture beckon and invite you to wander in the birch forest, look for berries and mushrooms.
The painting depicts an autumn afternoon, the sun is at its zenith. The clearing and small forest are simply bathed in the sun's rays. The birches in the foreground are already dressed in golden outfits. And that’s why they seem so regal and elegant. From under the short crowns, like under dresses, thin white trunks are visible, looking like girlish legs in white tights.
It seems that the clearing is a small dance floor in the middle of the forest. Birches, like girls, huddle together, whispering, waiting for a gentleman to dance. And he, the only one, hid behind them. A tall gentleman dressed all in green. The tree attracts attention and occupies a central place in the picture. It seems to show that not all trees immediately change the color of their foliage.
Having walked enough, you just want to lie down or sit in the sun, get some food supplies and have lunch. In the fresh air, any food seems so tasty and appetizing. And then stretch out on the blanket, enjoy the warmth of the sun and take a nap for an hour.
Having rested and gained strength, you can continue your walk along the path that crosses the picture. Winding through the forest, the path will lead to a small village. In the distance in the right corner of the picture you can see a small white stone church with a bell tower.
The river bends at this point. On the opposite shore you can see a sandbank, and then fields stretch to the horizon. The depth apparently allows swimming there. What a great place to stay! I would love to swim and sunbathe there. But it’s already autumn, the time for water pleasures is over.
The opposite bank is high, there is a forest on it, and even higher, on a hillock, there is a village.
The picture is filled with such sunshine, so positive, bright. Looking at it, I can’t even believe that in autumn there are gray, dank days with cold rain and mud. I really liked the picture. I love Russian nature.
Description of Polenov's essay Golden Autumn
Most artists took the beauty of their native plains, forests, and rivers as the basis for their work. Famous writers and artists found particular inspiration in the beauty of nature. So in the painting of the artist Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov, all the power and beauty of Russian autumn is depicted.
When you look at the picture, you get a feeling of home and begin to realize that after this autumn fairy tale blizzards and cold weather will come, and in no case do you want to let go of this bright sunny day that brings joy. The whole picture exudes calm and silence.
Golden autumn is the time when nature shows us the diversity of its colors. Looking at the picture, you can see that it is filled with warmth and love for this small river and for the dense forest, which has an unsurpassed color. A tall and massive tree dominates the entire shore. Its strength and power is reflected in the color of the emerald leaves and looking at it one can feel the colors of the quickly passing summer. The nearby birch trees harmoniously complement the picture. Their leaves, despite at first glance, are multi-colored. There are gold, red, orange, and green colors. A smooth line depicts a path running along a grass carpet and going into this magical forest. There, in the deep thicket, it still smells warm, still green and good like summer.
The river occupies a special position in this picture. He is quiet and calm. Its waters are slightly blue, reflecting the clouds slowly passing across the sky. There is no splash, no boat, no bird. The artist shows us this beauty with trepidation, as if afraid to disturb the peace.
Every living soul in their life is looking for a place where they can find harmony and peace. Looking at this piece of nature, you want to go into this forest and dissolve in its silence. After the noisy city, you want to return to this place again and again, living and feeling the warmth of this forest and the whole picture. The sun is not visible, but it warms not only the entire visible landscape, but the observer. This is truly masterful and talented work.

The painting “Golden Autumn” was painted by Vasily Polenov in 1893. Located in the State Museum-Reserve of V. D. Polenov, Tula region. Canvas, oil. Dimensions: 77 × 124 cm.
The painting was painted in the Borok estate, which now houses the State Museum-Reserve of V.D. Polenov and, in fact, this painting is located. Here is a view of the Oka towards the Ochkov Mountains. The landscape picture is rich in colors, and also inspires with its beauty, tranquility, and special autumn atmosphere.
Nature has already plunged into autumn. The trees are covered with yellow, although greenery is still visible in some places, which indicates that autumn is not very late yet, the weather is more or less warm and pleasant. Before us is that very fresh autumn day, in which the smells of fallen leaves spread, which is why many people love this particular time.
In the foreground you can see a path that stretches along the forest. The path has a special meaning - it points to nature, inhabited by people, which adds a certain soulfulness to it.
Behind the partially yellowed trees, a dark green spreading tree can be seen. Apparently this is oak. It has not yet been touched by the autumn yellowness. Essay plan based on the painting Golden Autumn by Polenova, grade 3
Essay option 3
In general, I love autumn. That's why I like this picture. In autumn, as shown in this picture, everything is very beautiful. That is, of course, any time of year is good, but autumn is the most colorful.
Many people love summer, but it’s hot, and in the landscapes everything is just green. Or in winter - everything, on the contrary, is white. But in the fall you can have green, yellow, red-orange... Everything is there! Such transitions. There is no heat or cold... I put on my jacket (take an umbrella just in case and go for a walk).
In the picture the weather is so sunny and pleasant. Such a beautiful bend of the river. I would really like to get into this picture - to take a walk there. By nature, I think this is central Russia. Surely, it’s not very cold there... I would take a thermos of coffee and sandwiches with me... And I would go wherever my eyes, as they say, look. By the way, I wouldn’t go alone – I would take my friends with me. Have fun walking everyone!
And it’s okay that, judging by the weather, you can’t swim. If you imagine that summer has just ended, then everyone is already shopping. How can?
It’s also important that these sunny, beautiful days in the fall are the last ones before the long, long winter. And if only she were so fabulous! Often it’s three months of mud, snow and rain, rain and snow...
And with the thought of this, you somehow begin to appreciate the sun and walks more.
Of course, many of my friends don’t really like autumn. But even those who are ready to fall into autumn depression or hibernation will not miss such days! This autumn you can arrange a beautiful photo shoot. This is when a girl is photographed wearing gold leaves. My sister had such an event that year. It was really beautiful! She got so many “likes” and compliments... I would like that too, but I just don’t like that now everyone takes pictures like that...
But you can just walk and enjoy the fall.
This picture can be hung at home. I would do it with pleasure... By the way, it would look good with both tapestry and embroidery. (Although it is difficult to both embroider one and paint, the colors are too close!) Warmth emanates from such a picture. It brings only good thoughts to me. It's so calm right now! You can look at it on long winter evenings. It will definitely become warmer.
Warm and calm. Nature, as they say, is slowly falling asleep. I would say that it’s like twilight, when all your schoolwork is finished, you start thinking about pleasant things. That is, you think about sleep, about books, and watch something on the Internet. You're already getting ready to relax. Again, this is my favorite time of day. You're looking forward to your vacation! Read before bed or call a friend?
In the picture there is also a road, a path, but there is no one on it. There are also light clouds, but they are not scary. It even evokes some poetic lines. If I were a poet, I would write a poem!

Polenov Golden Autumn essay grade 3
The author of the painting “Golden Autumn” is the great Russian artist Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov. The painting, which was painted in 1893, is considered one of the best works of the famous master of painting. It is an example of how gifted the artist was, how he could feel the atmosphere of nature, the character and beauty of autumn.
Before us is an autumn landscape. It's early autumn. Along the Oka River there are forests that are already decorated with colorful paints. The trees have turned yellow, red, orange, although many trees are still green, since autumn has not yet reached its full strength.
In the foreground we can see a birch grove that stretches along the banks of the river. There is a well-trodden path along the grove, which tells us that these places have long been inhabited by people, there is a village nearby and people can enjoy this amazing beauty every day. The birches are painted unevenly in different colors, looking like a patchwork quilt. Behind the birches are dark green oaks.
In the background, behind the birches, a river flows. She makes a sharp bend, as if showing the viewer an amazing trick of nature. The blue river, as if in a mirror, reflects the clouds floating across the sky and the trees that stand along the shore.
The left part of the background is quite flat and deserted; there is a plain here. But the right side of the Oka bank is a hill or a low mountain. On the slopes of the hill grows a forest, which looks even more like patches of equal colors, since from a distance individual trees are almost indistinguishable. At the very top of the hill there is a lonely church, which seems to crown this entire beautiful landscape, saying that all nature is spiritual, permeated with divine beauty.
The sky in the picture is covered with clouds, but not the menacing clouds that occur in late spring. It can be seen that the weather is still quite warm, the sun warms the earth, but soon all the trees will turn golden, after which frosts will begin and a beautiful snowy winter will begin.
Vasily Polenov’s painting “Golden Autumn” evoked joyful feelings in me. Looking at such pictures, you understand how beautiful and amazing nature is at any time of the year. Nature in autumn on the banks of a beautiful river looks as if it has been dressed up and decorated, as if before the long winter it decided to try on bright outfits and show off, as if at a farewell party or masquerade. The picture itself is very realistic, worked out in detail, so that you can easily feel the breath of a light autumn breeze and the smells of fallen leaves.

Essay-description based on the painting Golden Autumn by Polenov (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th grade)
V. D. Polenov’s painting “Golden Autumn” is a corner of nature familiar to each of us, but presented in his own way by the artist on the canvas.
The autumn season, which the author conveyed with the help of a huge variety of shades of yellow, green and blue, evokes peace and tranquility. The panorama presented by the author opens from a hillock. A barely noticeable path goes to the left. And along the bright yellow slope from the burnt grass, small lush bushes of recently planted fir trees can be seen randomly. The river cannot be approached because of the nearby white-trunked birches. Their crown seems to be strewn with golden yellow amber. Some of them still retained green leaves that had not yet turned yellow like the others. A lush cap of leaves rises as a bright emerald spot against the background of amber shine. This tree seemed to be trying to hide behind a row of elegant birches. Judging by the green crown untouched by the sun, it is not going to turn yellow.
The right bank of the river is represented by a steep hill covered with colorful bushes and trees. It seems to lead the river into unknown distances. The river space takes the viewer's breath away. Such a deep river cannot remain without flow. The waves slowly roll over one another, carrying foam around the bend. The water reflects what grows on the steep bank and the clouds that float away along with the river surface. The expanses of heaven seem endless. They converge far on the horizon line with the forest zone in the form of a blue foggy strip. Light lumps of cotton wool seem to be scattered across the monochromatic, even blue sky. These are clouds that resemble lumps of snow. The right bank reveals only part of the bell tower, which is neatly fenced with a white stone fence.
Looking at a painting by Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov, you try to guess the artist’s thoughts at the moment of creating the painting. The world seems kind, people are happy because they live in such a wonderful place, and the nature of their native land is unique. One of the warm days in the picture resembles the time of “Indian” summer. I want it to last as long as possible, so that the impressions remain forever in the soul, causing a smile when remembering this natural corner.
