Next, the author moves on to reflecting on himself and his love for life. The second and third stanzas are devoted to chanting the beauty of the earth: the emotional appeal to inanimate objects fully conveys the melancholy that grips the poet at the thought of farewell, and at the end of the second stanza he directly names this feeling.

The verse was written by Sergei Yesenin in 1924. At this time, the author was depressed and disappointed in the world around him. The reality was not too happy for him. Many of Yesenin’s poems are dedicated to animals. They are a hymn to the animal kingdom, without interaction with which the self-determination of all humanity cannot be accomplished. We live according to the laws of nature, only people are much more ruthless than animals... Yesenin gave the phraseological unit “our smaller brothers” a new meaning - “animals for whom people are responsible.” Whereas the etymology of this combination is different - Christ called this the people of the lower class, the disadvantaged. In my opinion, this subtext has a very deep meaning.

The last two stanzas are united by a common meaning. In them the gaze again turns to that sad and silent world. Is there anything there? The hero is only sure that there are no beauties there that can be enjoyed in this world: “. the thickets don’t bloom there,” “...there won’t be... these fields, golden in the darkness,” “rye won’t ring with the swan’s neck.” Epithets and metaphors help to recreate a truly magical picture. Apparently, this land is not so gloomy if it is filled with such beauties.

The leitmotif is the line: “That’s why in front of the host of those leaving // I always feel trembling.” They contain longing for friends who have gone to that world, they contain a sad sigh about the transience of our earthly life. What to do?

It’s as if the whole soul of the Russian poet, full of painful torment, is revealed to us... So in our life there is a lot of beauty, bordering on the base.
