This was a table describing the main characters of the story “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” by B. Vasiliev: a list of the main characters and their brief descriptions. See: All materials on the story “The Dawns Here Are Quiet”

In Vasiliev’s work “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” the heroes are yesterday’s graduates, completely inexperienced “warriors”, commanded by a young foreman. The book, for the first time in literature, touched upon the theme of war through a woman’s gaze, which makes the contrast even more terrible. The main characters of “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” live their short fighting life amicably and selflessly, the first battle becomes the last for everyone. Vasiliev's story is a very strong, tragic work. The table of characteristics gives a brief description of the appearance, character, and fate of the characters in the story.

Main characters

Vaskov, foreman

He is 32 years old, a sergeant major. Fedot Evgrafovich was married, but his wife ran away with someone else, and their son died. The sergeant major is uneducated, graduated from 4th grade. He spends a long time writing letters to the command asking them to send non-drinking soldiers. As a result, he gets a squad of girls. They are young, inexperienced, constantly violate the rules, do not take Vaskov seriously, and laugh at him. The foreman goes with a “woman’s” detachment on a mission, where all the girls gradually die, despite his fatherly attitude and care. He is a patriot, he stands to the last, but the foreman’s conscience torments him. He survives, losing his arm.

Rita Osyanina

A young girl (20 years old), immediately after school, got married and gave birth to a son. She is more serious and “more mature” than other girls. Her husband died on the second day of the war; he was a border guard. Rita is a platoon commander. At first she worked as a nurse, then graduated from an anti-aircraft school. He hates the Germans and clearly understands what war is. The girl seemed petrified from her misfortune, from separation from her son, from war and death. Serious, calm, persistent, rarely smiles. Having met Zhenya, Rita begins to live, smile, and sing. Zhenya becomes a very dear person to her, more than a friend.

Lisa Brichkina

The quietest, shy girl. She is 19 years old, the daughter of a forester. Lisa became a housewife early, cared for her bedridden mother, and helped her father. She lived in anticipation of life, waiting for real life to begin tomorrow... An intelligent, intelligent, understanding girl. Well versed in forests, signs, nature, birds. She likes the foreman, he is somehow close to Lisa. He trusts her very much and considers her the most responsible. Lisa dies in a swamp on the way to the outpost for reinforcements. This happens quietly and calmly, like everything in a girl’s life.

Sonya Gurvich

She is about 20 years old. She is not distinguished by beauty, a city girl of Jewish nationality. Sonya has been studying at the university in Moscow for just a year, attends theaters, and loves poetry. She is an excellent student in everything, very diligent, efficient and invisible among other girls. Thin, sparrow-like. He dies while spying on the Germans because of his own diligence. He doesn’t fully understand what war means, he doesn’t feel threatened or in danger.

Galya Chetvertak

The youngest of the anti-aircraft gunners, she grew up in an orphanage. She is a quarter shorter than average height. I was studying to be a librarian when the war began. The girl expects romance, beauty, and exploits from war. She is not prepared either mentally or physically for danger and death. She lies a lot, passing off her dreams and desires as reality; the girls treat her condescendingly. The girl is afraid of a real war, she is not distinguished by courage and inner core. In the first battle he dies stupidly, running out to the Germans in panic.

Zhenya Komelkova

She is sent on patrol in place of the murdered peddler. Her father was an officer. The whole family was shot before her eyes (she was hidden in the house opposite by a neighbor), the girl survived. She is very beautiful: red hair, green eyes, tall, slender figure. Grief did not break her. She is smiling, cheerful, mischievous. Before the war, a brave and dexterous girl rode a motorcycle, broke the hearts of guys, and was not afraid of anything. She can dance, recite poetry theatrically, tell stories, and sing. She is an experienced fighter and does not look for romance in war. Heroically defending Rita and Vaskov, she dies. Dying, wounded Zhenya does not believe in what is happening... She is only 19, death does not come so early... The Germans finish her off and look at her beautiful dead face.

Story lines

The work tells the story of the 171st patrol in Karelia, the commandant of which was Sergeant Major Fedot Evgrafovich Vaskov. Anti-aircraft installations were installed at the crossing to protect strategic objects. Finding themselves in this quiet place, the men became drunk from idleness. The commander asked his superiors to send soldiers who did not drink. At his request, 2 squads of trained girls operating anti-aircraft guns were sent to patrol. While guarding the crossing, one of them saw two Germans in the forest. Vaskov understands that the saboteurs want to undermine an important railway junction. They needed to be intercepted urgently.

The commander quickly selects 5 anti-aircraft gunners from the squad to detain the Nazis. He could only lead the girls through the swamps and rocks of the Sinyukhin ridge. There were 5 heroines under his command:

  • Rita Osyanina;
  • Zhenya Komelkova;
  • Lisa Brichkina;

Following the enemy, the detachment soon counted 16 people in the enemy sabotage group. And this is against five young girls. Fedot realizes that they cannot stop the Germans with such force and sends Lisa Brichkina back for help. The girl will not be able to get to the junction - she will drown in the swamp.

The squad has to engage in unequal battles with the enemy using various tricks. During the clashes, all 4 girls die. Commander Vaskov was still able to capture the surviving saboteurs. By that time, help had arrived to meet him.

Female images in the story by B.L. Vasilyeva “And the dawns here are quiet”

(432 words) The legendary story by B. L. Vasilyev describes women in the war: Rita Osyanina, Zhenya Komelkova, Lisa Brichkina, Sonya Gurvich, Galya Chetvertak. Each image in the book is individual and worthy of attention.

Rita Osyanina was stern and silent. The reason for this is the loss of her husband on the second day of the war. Osyanina’s child remained in her mother’s arms; she ran to him at night when they were transferred to the patrol. Returning from her son in the morning, she noticed the saboteurs. During the task, Rita, like the other girls, showed herself heroically, she was strong in spirit, so she fought to the end. Having received a mortal wound, she does not blame Vaskov, but only asks to take care of her son. The war destroyed her life, but the woman died with the knowledge that she stood up for her homeland.

Zhenya Komelkova arrived at the department to replace the murdered server. Before her eyes, the Germans shot her relatives, and she went to the front. Despite the trials, the beautiful Zhenya is cheerful, smiling and friendly. During the mission, she behaves boldly and even desperately: when the heroes pretend to be lumberjacks, she bathes in full view of the Germans, saves Vaskov’s life, and in the final battle she tries to lead the enemies with her. She loves life too much and believes in its infinity. How can you die at 19? But, unfortunately, war takes the best.

Liza Brichkina lived in the forests of the Bryansk region, seeing little in life, but dreaming a lot about the future. Even during the war, she continued to wait for happiness. She liked Sergeant Major Vaskov, for her he was an ideal. And the fact that he sent her for reinforcements confirmed the heroine’s thoughts about her exclusivity. But dreams have no place in war: thinking about Vaskov, Lisa stumbled while crossing the swamp and drowned. The life of a young girl was cut short in such an absurd and tragic way.

Sonya Gurvich is a quiet, weak, intelligent girl who loves poetry and theater. University, first love, close-knit family - everything was left behind when the war began, and the heroine could not hide behind other people's backs. She was little adapted to military life, but tried with all her might to be useful to a country in danger. This inability to adapt became fatal: she ran after the pouch left by Vaskov and was hit by an enemy bullet.

Galya Chetvertak came up with a whole world in which everything was presented in romantic colors. The girl grew up in an orphanage, where the reality was not at all joyful; she needed an outlet. She went to war thinking it was all romance. But seeing death, blood, shells, the girl was completely lost. She abandoned her rifle in battle, broken by the death of her friend Sonya, and then, when Vaskov took her on a reconnaissance mission, she ran out of an ambush to cut across the enemies. Galya was not ready for a real war, but she tried her best to protect her homeland.

B. L. Vasiliev, describing women in war, emphasizes the mercilessness of this massacre. However, if you need to stand up for the whole world, then a girl can become strong. Or at least try.

Commandant of the military unit Vaskov

Fedot Evgrafovich rose to the rank of sergeant major. I graduated from 4th grade, after which I went to work. Just before the war, he got married, but his wife soon left for someone else, and his little son died. Fedot was previously a participant in the Finnish War and served in intelligence. During World War II, the character began to command a unit of anti-aircraft gunners. Young and inexperienced girls make fun of him and do not take him seriously. They affectionately call him Fedya, like his mother did in childhood.

Once the foreman had to lead a “woman’s” detachment. With five girls, he needs to stop a strong and experienced enemy of 16 people. He takes care of his charges, treats them like a father: he makes them put on foot wraps correctly, teaches them to quack like ducks. The commander in the book “The Dawns Here Are Quiet...” can be described with the following epithets:

  • brave, courageous;
  • has a strong character;
  • simple;
  • responsible, punctual;
  • caring, demanding;
  • leisurely, taciturn;
  • stubborn.

It was difficult for the commander on the mission, because the lives of five girls were in his hands. He tried to behave with them strictly, with restraint, and kept his distance. By completing the assigned task, the hero becomes a caring brother or father for his charges. He shows sympathy and worries about each of them.

To detain the enemy, it was necessary to give 5 young lives. Vaskov himself survived, but lost his arm. Before Rita Osyanina’s death, he made her a promise that he would not leave her son and would find him. He adopted the boy and raised him to be an excellent soldier. At the end of the story, they arrive together at the burial site of five heroines.

Squad commander Rita Osyanina

The description of the five girls should start with the eldest in the platoon. She was a strict and reserved person. It was rare to notice a smile or other emotion on Rita's face. She is strict with her charges.

Immediately after finishing school, the girl got married and soon gave birth to a boy, Albert. Her husband served on the border and died in the first days of the battles. Rita had to leave her son with her mother in the village, and she herself got a job as a nurse in a hospital. Over time, she graduated from anti-aircraft school and was sent to the women's garrison.

Osyanina could not come to terms with the death of her husband and rushed to the front to avenge him. Of the five girls, she is the last to die. After receiving a serious injury, she shot herself so as not to be a burden for Vaskov. Before her death, she asked the commander to take care of her son. Rita Osyanina can be called an example of courage and heroism shown by a woman in war.

Rita Osyanina

She seemed older than the other girls. Rita was the only mother from a platoon of anti-aircraft gunners who died in the Karelian forests in those days. She gives the impression of a more serious and reasonable person compared to other girls. After being seriously wounded, Rita shot herself in the temple, thereby saving the life of the foreman. Characteristics of the heroes of the story “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” - a description of the characters and a brief background to the pre-war years. Unlike her friends, Osyanina managed to get married and even give birth to a son. The husband died at the very beginning of the war. But the war did not allow her to raise her son.

Officer's daughter Zhenya Komelkova

Zhenya is optimistic about the most difficult situations. She is self-confident and determined to achieve positive results. She had someone to learn from - her father served as a red commander. Komelkov taught her not to be afraid of anything, to ride a horse, hunt animals, and shoot accurately.

When the war began, her family (father, mother, sister and brother) were shot with a machine gun. Evgenia managed to hide with a neighbor who was Estonian by nationality. To avenge their death, Evgenia went to war. Her character did not break. In the army, she was courted by the married Colonel Luzhin. Everyone around condemned Zhenya for this affair, but she did not pay attention to them. Luzhin remained her only support .

  • “Timur and his team” - a summary of the story by A.P. Gaidar

Zhenya Komelkova dies heroically: she took the enemy soldiers away from the wounded Rita Osyanina, taking over the firefight. The heroine did not even have time to realize her feat. The Germans shot the girl point-blank.

Private soldier Elizaveta Brichkina

Lisa was born into the family of a forester. Her father taught her to understand natural phenomena and the world around her. The girl's mother was ill, so Lisa learned patience and understanding while caring for her. They lived in the forest, so Elizabeth grew up modest and shy. She turned out to be a hardworking girl, not afraid of difficulties. When my mother died, my father began to drink heavily.

When the war began, Lisa immediately joined the military. She easily adapted to the life of the garrison, because she had not seen comfort since childhood. Vaskov constantly praised her. The girl eventually fell in love with him. She carefully followed all his orders.

When the detachment discovered 16 saboteurs instead of two, Brichkina was sent back for help. While crossing the bog, the girl drowned in the swamp.

Elizaveta Brichkina

The girl is 19 years old. She is the daughter of a forester and was raised in a simple, poor family. Her mother was seriously ill all her life, and the girl had to take care of her and run the house from the age of five. After her mother’s death, her father became a heavy drinker and it was doubly difficult for Lisa.

Brichkina is a modest, quiet, hardworking person. She is very shy and never cries. She had been lonely all her life and was already used to it. The flexible girl, who knew how to create comfort even in the wilderness of the forest, was often praised by Sergeant Major Vaskov. In him, Lisa saw a kindred spirit and fell in love.

When their detachment discovered a sabotage group of sixteen Germans, Fedot sent Brichkina for help. But on the way through the swamp, the girl dies in a quagmire. The author of the story notes that Lisa's death was the same as her whole life - quiet, resigned and unnoticed.

Translator Sofya Gurvich

Sonya was born in Belarus, her parents were Jews. My father worked as a doctor at the site. The girl had not seen a luxurious life since childhood: they lived in poverty because they sheltered numerous relatives. Up to three people slept on one bed. After school, Sonya entered the university.

Soon the war began, and the Germans captured Minsk. How many hardships the Gurvichs had to endure... Sophia was very worried about her family and was afraid of reprisals. The girl loved to read books, learn poetry, and knew German. The best activity for her was to go to the theater or reading room. She was in no way suitable for this terrible war, being a fragile, intelligent girl.

Vaskov took her into his squad as a translator. The campaign ended tragically, Gurvich dies as a hero. The Germans tracked her down in the forest and killed her with a knife in the chest. She managed to scream before her death, which warned her friends about the danger. This quiet, inconspicuous girl accomplishes a feat, because Victory was achieved from such actions.

Romantic Galya Chetvertak

Galina was the youngest representative of the squad. She was only 17 years old. She was brought up in an orphanage. Shelter workers came up with the name Chetvertak because of her short stature. The girl loved to fantasize, so she escaped from harsh reality. Her teachers noticed her penchant for writing, so they sent her to a library college.

The war began when she was in her third year. She found herself among the anti-aircraft gunners. But even then she lived in her imaginary world, imagining herself as a nurse. The girl was timid, but Vaskov gave her a chance to prove herself on the mission. None of the girls wanted to die, but Galina was afraid of everyone. She was not ready for war, like most women.

Galya Chetvertak dies due to her own negligence. The characterization of the image will be incomplete without a description of her death. During one of the attacks, the girl began to go into real hysterics. She could not restrain herself and jumped out of hiding. The Germans immediately killed her. Daydreaming and fantasy have become irrelevant with combat.

Vasiliev created the image of five heroines for a reason. Using their example, he showed how many people there were then who were ready to give their lives for the sake of others. Four film adaptations brought the book even more popularity. This is one of the best works about the war, describing the feat of people sacrificing their own lives.

The work, according to the author, is based on a real military episode when, after being wounded, seven soldiers serving on the railway prevented a German sabotage group from blowing it up. War is a terrible evil, tears, pain. But everyone is used to associating men with her, but here the main characters presented by the author are girls and women. The characteristics of each of the heroines of the legendary story are described below.

Hero nameIts characteristics
Fedot Evgrafovich VaskovHis father died when Vaskov was in the 4th grade, and this ended Fedot’s education - he was forced to go to work. Two years before the war, Vaskov got married and had a son. Later, the wife left Vaskov for another, and the son died. Before the events of World War II, he took part in the military events of the Finnish War as a scout. During World War II he became commandant of a detachment. Under his command was a battalion of female anti-aircraft gunners. Vaskov was the only one alive from the entire reconnaissance group, although he was seriously wounded. Raises Rita Osyanina's son after the girl's death.
Sonya GurvichPrivate in Vaskov's detachment. Before the war, Sonya studied at Moscow University. The girl was an excellent student, knew foreign languages well, and was also interested in theater and literature. She was Jewish by nationality. Her father is a doctor in Minsk. Sonya had a large, friendly family. Due to a shortage of anti-aircraft gunners, Sonya was sent to Vaskov’s detachment. The girl was of a quiet, calm disposition, efficient and hardworking. She was discovered by the Germans during reconnaissance work and killed.
Lisa BrichkinaPrivate in Vaskov's detachment. Lisa is the daughter of a forester. Her mother was seriously ill and needed care, which the girl selflessly provided for five years. Lisa really lacked parental love and care, so she grew up to be a sensitive girl with a fine mental organization. Following the instructions of her father’s acquaintance, Lisa planned to enter a technical school, but military events prevented the implementation of this plan. Lisa was in love with Fyodor Evgrafych Vaskov, but tried to hide her feelings. Galya ChetvertakPrivate in Vaskov's detachment. Galya is an orphan. She was brought up in an orphanage and then continued her education at a library college. Galya went to war for the sake of romance. Galya's difficult childhood and orphanhood left an imprint on the girl's character and worldview. Galya constantly made up stories, most often about herself or her family, and passed them off as reality. The girl did not do this out of malice - thus Galya plunged into her dream world. Galya turned out to be morally unprepared for military events - the girl fell into a state close to hysteria during the shelling, and then ran out of cover and was killed by the Germans.
