Against all odds
An essay on the topic “My favorite athlete” will be dedicated to figure skater Elena Berezhnaya . The stunningly beautiful, fragile girl was able to show the most complex figures on the ice. When performing in pairs, Elena never sought to outshine her partner, but always tried to skate as if her entire future life depended on it.
The path to success for this athlete cannot be called simple. She was born into a simple family, without connections, and she got into skating solely thanks to a happy accident. Having decided that sports would be useful for her sickly daughter, Elena’s mother enrolled her in the section.
No one expected that the girl would discover real talent, which would later take her to the world stage and make her a champion. In the meantime, she was faced with falls, bruises, and constant scandals with her mentors. But behind the fragile appearance hid an iron character, and it was he who helped Elena survive with honor the ordeal that befell her . While preparing for the European Championships, the figure skater received a horrific injury that would have forced a less strong-willed person to give up skates and do something safer.

Tragic accident
The main character of the essay “My Favorite Athlete” was not chosen by chance. Elena Berezhnaya was able to overcome, first of all, herself, her fear and pain. Here is the sequence of tragic events in the figure skater’s life:
- During a rehearsal for the European Championship, Elena's partner, Oleg Shlyakhov, accidentally hit her with a skate blade.
- Elena received a serious injury to the temporal bone, damaging her brain.
- Has undergone several operations.
- The 18-year-old girl had to relearn the simplest actions: walk, talk.
She managed, but no one could have imagined that this strong-willed person would decide to return to the ice arena and start training. Nevertheless, Elena Berezhnaya continued to pursue her dream, and even a horrific injury with serious consequences could not stop her.
Olga Medvedtseva(Pyleva)
Russian biathlete who became a two-time winner of the Olympic Games and six-time gold medalist of the World Championships. She began her sports career at the Olympic Reserve School in the city of Divnogorsk in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Until the age of twenty-three, Olga Pyleva already had enough awards received at world-class junior competitions. With the title of “international master of sports in cross-country skiing”, she repeatedly became the winner of World Cup stages. An interesting fact is that she has been a member of the Russian national team for this type of racing since 1992.
Thanks to her strong-willed character, Olga did not despair and tried to apply her strength and experience in another sport. Thus, the first season of participation in the new type of competition took place in 1999-2000 and brought bronze and silver medals in the sprint, bronze for the pursuit, and gold for relay performances at various stages of the World Cup. Until 2006, Olga Medvedtseva confidently performed under the Russian flag. Among her numerous victories of this period are gold in the pursuit race at the Olympic Games in 2002, gold in the individual race at the World Championships held in Oberhof in 2004. An award of the same value was received for the relay in 2005 at the World Championships in Austria. In the same season, she became a participant in the first mixed race along with Svetlana Ishmuratova, Ivan Tcherezov, Nikolai Kruglov. Their joint efforts brought gold to Russia.
The 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver added gold to Olga Medvedtseva’s treasury. The last triumphant race in the biathlete’s career was the Russian Championship competition, held in Uvat. At the 2010 Games in Vancouver she received a gold medal as part of the relay team.
Long-awaited victories
It’s not for nothing that Berezhnaya was chosen as the heroine of the story about the outstanding athlete. She seems to be a person who got everything exclusively through her own labor, despite the circumstances . Her sickly appearance did not prevent the girl from learning figures that baffled more experienced and trained athletes. Difficult relationships with partners, which the skater mentioned more than once in interviews, did not make her cry and admit defeat.
The terrifying injury did not unsettle this girl; she continued her fight, from which she wanted to emerge victorious.
And she succeeded. Elena received a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. She worked towards this for a long time, worked tirelessly, disappeared at rehearsals, giving up her personal life and entertainment, which young people value so much. And she achieved her goal. This is an integral, strong-willed personality to whom you can devote several projects. Elena Berezhnaya has now retired from an active sports career, is raising children, and has tried herself as the director of the Ice Theater. Of course, her achievements are already behind her.
But tears well up in your eyes, you just have to imagine how a thin girl, who literally just recently regained the ability to walk, puts on her skates again and, gritting her teeth, boldly stands on the cold ice sheet . He doesn’t cry, doesn’t complain, he’s undoubtedly very afraid, but he hides his fear with all his might. It is precisely such people who deserve respect; essays and other texts can and should be written about them, and we can take examples from them.
Essay “Athletes are our pride”
“Athletes are our pride.”
What could be better than a healthy lifestyle? Quite a few options come to mind, but I think a person’s health should always come first. In the modern world, many people have forgotten how and why they need to take care of themselves. At least daily exercise gives significant results, not to mention professional sports. As for the development of sports in our country, all Kazakhstanis can proudly name the names of our champions. Over the years of independence of Kazakhstan, they have brought quite a few victories, which are etched in the memory of the devoted people.
No country in the world can say that Kazakhstan ranks last, inferior to stronger opponents. This is not so, our champions will never be afraid to compete in front of a worthy opponent.
Let’s not forget how hard it is to win prizes. Through sweat, fatigue and many obstacles, champions climb to the victory podium. Nothing comes easy, and every athlete understands this perfectly.
Do you live in Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, or in any country in the world? Ask you which Kazakh athletes you know? The answers will be different, of course, but most will name the famous Gennady Golovkin. Our “Three Gs” are loved and respected all over the world And he did not gain his fame in a short time. By making as much effort as possible, he still achieved his goal. And I think he does not consider this the end point, continuing to improve his fighting technique year after year. And where did his famous career begin? Of course, from childhood, with the guidance of their older brothers. For most athletes, the desire and first training are deeply rooted in childhood. Almost from the cradle, they understand that the soul asks for sports, and only the body is left to do it.
No less famous is the brilliant champion, the favorite of millions, Ilya Ilyin. During the years of independence, he became a two-time champion of the Olympic Games, bringing Kazakhstan its fifth gold medal in weightlifting. In his years, he made history, each time delighting younger athletes with his perseverance , forcing you to move towards your goal.
A wonderful statement by Faina Ranevskaya helped me think: “Women are not the weaker sex, the weaker sex are rotten boards.” It seems like a simple phrase, with a touch of humor and familiar text. But the meaning is really correct. Would anyone dare say that our athletes — the weaker sex? But if they want, they can withstand the most worthy male opponents. That is why they occupy leading places, bringing many victories to Kazakhstan’s treasury.
Direct proof of this is the inimitable Maya Maneza. She has not only a steely character and a strong physique, but at the same time, femininity and charm inherent in every self-respecting girl. Two-time world champion in weightlifting, world record holder from 2010 to 2014- y - 143 kilograms in the clean and jerk - all this is the unique Maya Maneza, who has won not only numerous awards, but also the hearts of millions of people. An equally amazing athlete is Zulfiya Chinshanlo, who in 2009 became the youngest world champion, at the age of 16. This not only a powerful instruction for beginning athletes, but also a lasting incentive for Zulfiya herself. Not one athlete of Kazakhstan, sport will never become a hindrance. They do not forget about personal life, family and time for themselves. But still, defending the country’s sports title, never won't take last place.
Is it possible to achieve decent results on your own? Of course it is possible, but very difficult, double the load. But with the support of friends, family and strong teachers, the burden is removed into visible units. Ask any athlete who became their sports guru? Who helped again day after day and get up from your knees again? Looking fear, difficulties in the eye, breaking through everything, no matter what, towards a clearly defined task? The work is not easy, but those who are nearby, be it a brother, father, coach, loved one, will always help in difficult times. Everyone There is such a person as a champion, and no matter what happens, he will always be remembered as the one who did not let you break.
Who is this person for Svetlana Podobedova? Perhaps we may not know exactly who else, but her first coach, Pavel Blinov, made a huge contribution to the athlete’s achievements. And he will be remembered by her as the first person who helped her not to fall. The current coach, Alexey Ni, certainly does not ignore this fact, helping Svetlana with renewed vigor to conquer unprecedented opportunities, striving for new heights. And for Marina Volnova? Who is this hero who helped you stay on the path? The enormous merit of coach Berik Marzhikpaev, who became an example for her. Not for a second did he doubt the young champion. Realizing at the age of 6 that she was born for sports, Volnova Maria continues to improve to this day. And each of her perseverance is rewarded.
We must not forget about our smiling Olga Rypakova, who won 6 gold medals at the Olympic Games, once again proving the power of our independent country. And this could not have happened without the support of an important person. For Olga, this is her father, Sergei Alekseev. Here is a real example of that that sport is not an obstacle to your personal life and yourself. Olga Rypakova is married, and together with her husband, an honored running medalist, she is raising two children - daughter Nastya and son Kirill.
Strong character, bright appearance, unforgettable results in world fights - all this is our pride, our favorite athletes, far from being the weaker sex of Kazakhstan.
As for the stronger sex of our country, they deserve great praise. Alexander Vinokurov, Adilbek Niyazymbekov, Daniyal Gadzhiev, Akzhurek Tanatarov, Serik Sapiev. The five pages provided are not enough to describe the unimaginable pride for each of them. Not a single word of Russian, not Kazakh, not any other language in the world can describe the emotions that arise at the sight of our champions fighting for the sports title of Independent Kazakhstan.
Pride, a sense of the full-fledged state of the country, the desire for excellence, everyday perseverance and actions, only actions, to achieve a clearly defined goal. The main tasks of our athletes are not to fall to the enemy, defending the honor of the country. Our champions succeed year after year carry out the set plan. All because our athletes are the pride of our country.
After this, Klitschko managed to cope with many strong athletes:
- Chris Bird;
- Jamille McCline;
- Tony Thompson et al.
for about ten years he won all the most honorable awards in the heavyweight category
Klitschko can be classified as an athlete who is ready to work with maximum efficiency. How can you help but admire such a person?
It is known that many heavyweight boxers, after a single defeat, never returned to the ring. Even serious losses could not break the Klitschkos. He ended his career only in 2021. The final fight was spectacular, with a worthy opponent - Anthony Joshua. Vladimir was knocked down, but still managed to gather his strength and win. It is not surprising that Klitschko was applauded throughout London. The boxer left gracefully, and no one can reproach him for anything or convict him of deception. Such athletes are truly worth admiring. Klitschko is guaranteed a place in the boxing hall of fame forever.
