My friends and I like to fantasize about what we will be when we grow up. Some friends dream of becoming an astronaut, another an artist, but I always dreamed of becoming a policeman. My friends and parents are surprised by this choice and ask why I decided this. After all, a policeman’s salary is small, and the work is associated with many difficulties. In response, I say that I love justice and I also don’t like it when the weak and defenseless are offended. I always enjoy watching feature films and documentaries about police work. I also enjoy reading books in the detective genre.
Of course, I understand that in order to be a police officer, you need to develop such qualities as discipline and restraint, you need to be a decent and fair person and constantly maintain yourself in good physical shape. I often hear from adults that working in the police is very difficult and not always honorable. The police spend a lot of physical and moral strength, danger can appear at any moment. In order to be prepared for difficulties, you need to train a lot and prepare yourself for your future profession.
There are many positive aspects to working in the police, such as stability, confidence in the future, and the opportunity to achieve career advancement. If you serve honestly and decently, over time you will definitely earn the respect of people. The state also provides certain benefits and guarantees to law enforcement officers. In addition, serving in the police contributes to the development in a person of such positive qualities as determination, courage and self-confidence.
I often hear how the police in our country are criticized and the work of the police in other countries is praised. I think this is wrong. After all, we ourselves probably don’t know how the police work in other countries, but we judge it from foreign films and television programs. In my opinion, there are many good and qualified police officers in our country. It’s just that all people are different, and if someone had to deal with unpleasant representatives of the law, one cannot use their example to judge the work of the entire police in our country. Our country needs a strong law enforcement system, because it determines the environment in which people will have to live, work and raise children. When I become a police officer I will try to be honest and fair and will benefit people.

Why do I want to become a police officer?
“As far as the future is concerned, I repeat one thing: whatever you undertake, the main thing is to be dedicated to your work to the end.
It is not necessary to achieve some kind of stellar success, but it is necessary to be honest with yourself in your chosen profession.” Robert De Niro.
Whatever people dreamed of becoming: doctors to save lives, brave firefighters, cosmonauts like Yuri Gagarin, singers to shine on stage, teachers to impart knowledge! There are many professions, the main thing is not to make a mistake in your choice and devote your life to this profession.
In my opinion, there is no more necessary and in demand profession than that of a police officer. A policeman is a person who has the difficult responsibility of maintaining order in society.
From early childhood, this profession attracts both boys and girls with its romance. The heroism of police officers is often reflected in fiction and cinema.
note
For many, this work is full of exciting adventures and exciting events, while in fact, protecting law and order requires daily work and routine work.
When I was about six years old, I dreamed of working in the police, like my father and grandfather, but my mother forbade me to think about it, because it was not a very feminine and quite dangerous profession. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if I had said goodbye to my dream.
When, after 9th grade, when choosing a future path, the question of my future profession again arose before me, of course, I again thought about the police. I began to search the Internet for the necessary information: institutes, courses, requirements for admission; I went to open days. One day I was watching my favorite TV series about the everyday life of an operational service.
He walked at a late hour, and after him I immediately went to bed. That night I had a wonderful dream.
I found myself in the shoes of the main character of this series. I was twenty-seven years old. The morning was ordinary: alarm clock, walk with the dog, black coffee to cheer up before the work day. Then I went to my department. My partner Sasha was already waiting for me there. Today, several raids on apartments were planned to check registration. We dealt with this quickly and were back at the department by lunchtime.
And there a new robbery case awaited us! Sasha and I went to the crime scene to inspect everything and interview the victim. An old grandfather opened the door for us. We entered the apartment. The partner began to ask what happened.
Stepan Vladimirovich, that was the grandfather’s name, told us that a couple of months ago a woman of about thirty-five began to look after him: she carried him groceries, cleaned, and helped him with housework. She became like family to him. The elderly man could not even think for what selfish purposes she did this! He trusted her completely.
Stepan Vladimirovich had small savings: money that his son sent him and medals that he received as a war veteran. When the criminal got the keys to the apartment, she took everything out of the house, since she had long noticed where everything was.
Important
In the evening, when I returned home, I still could not forget the deceived veteran. How can you be so insensitive and cruel, especially towards those people who fought for us to live well now! I really wanted to help Stepan Vladimirovich by returning to him all his savings and, most importantly, his awards.
The next morning I woke up with the same thought and went to work early. The first thing I did was go to the archives where the old cases were kept, I wanted to see if we had any similar unsolved robberies. I sat there for about two hours, but still found two similar cases.
When I went to these addresses to once again question witnesses and eyewitnesses and find some clue, I realized that the same person was acting.
For five days, our entire department searched for clues leading to this man! I fell asleep and woke up with the thought of this criminal, I was afraid that another gullible veteran would suffer, who would also believe in her “kindness.” There was an identikit, but she seemed to have disappeared into the ground.
And then, finally, the bell rang. The saleswoman at the vegetable stall recognized our thief from the identikit photos posted all over the city. We immediately went there, asked people and were able to get on her trail.
It turned out to be unemployed thirty-five-year-old Balenko Nadezhda Sergeevna, a citizen of Ukraine, who came to Moscow to earn money, but could not think of anything better than to rob defenseless old people. She confessed to three thefts. And the money with medals was returned to the veterans! Three months later, a trial took place, Balenko was sentenced to five years in prison.
This is where my dream ended. I still remember all the details and emotions that I felt. Then I wanted to work in the police even more!
It’s great when you can help people, but you cannot deny that there are dangerous moments in the lives of emergency service workers. And this suggests that anyone who wants to devote their life to this must be hardy, courageous and careful.
The requirements for applicants for service in law enforcement agencies are quite stringent.
It is clear that candidates must not have a criminal record, be physically and psychologically healthy: they must pass a physical fitness test and undergo a psychological test. Such strict selection is required to train true professionals.
Risking their lives, police officers take part in operations to capture particularly dangerous and armed criminals, solving thefts, and encounter seasoned thieves and robbers.
However, the profession of a policeman does not only consist of shooting and chasing criminals, as many believe. This is also work with documents, which is necessary for the functioning of the entire system.
Advice
Police work is very difficult. Stress, the need to communicate with criminals who have long lost their human form.
Many disgustingly call them “the scum of society” and do not want to notice them until life confronts them. But the policeman has no right to leave.
And, most importantly, you need to remain human yourself - all this is hard work that internal affairs officers carry out every day.
Now the fate of the Ukrainian Berkut unit is widely discussed in society. The police officers who stood to protect order on Kyiv Square turned out to be faithful to their duty to the end. They were beaten with sticks and burned with Molotov cocktails, but they did not return fire without orders.
They stood up for the law, although many of them were injured and mutilated. Now in Ukraine they are being persecuted as criminals, but the Russian government came to their defense and gave them the opportunity to become Russian citizens. And the mayor of Moscow S.S. Sobyanin offered a job.
One cannot help but admire the tenacity of these police officers!
In short, the profession of a police officer is an interesting, difficult, but necessary profession that will help make the lives of other people and the whole society better.
I am ready for all the difficulties of this work. And I will do everything to join the ranks of the Russian police!

Essay on the topic of the profession of a policeman, grade 9
MBOU Secondary School No. 5 (5 microdistrict Solnechny, no. 5A) Essay on the topic “About service in the police.” Prepared by: Akhmetkhanova Ekaterina Aleksandrovna 9th grade student A. Pyt-Yakh 2014 A policeman is an uncle who puts others in a dark room, but only bad uncles. Seryozha is 4 years old. A policeman is a person who arrests someone who has violated the rules of conduct. Tanya is 3 years old. A policeman is a security guard who keeps order on the street and compliance with the rules on the roads. Denis 6 years old. A policeman is a man or woman who stops cars and smiles at the driver. Sasha is 7 years old. A policeman is a person who punishes for speeding and also has a luminous uniform. Polina 8 years old. On June 7, 1718, Peter I established the Main Police in St. Petersburg. The police not only kept order in the city, but also performed a number of economic functions, engaged in the improvement of the city - paving streets, draining swampy areas, and collecting garbage. In addition, the police had judicial powers and had the ability to impose punishment in criminal cases. In 1866, a detective department was created in St. Petersburg, the work of which was based on the use of secret methods. This is how the criminal investigation service appeared. Since childhood, we have been familiar with several professions: doctor, policeman, teacher. Already in childhood, children imagine themselves in their future profession. Girls become ballerinas and singers, and boys become police officers and rescuers. I don’t know if this is good or bad, but since childhood I wanted to work in the police. Dad probably had an influence. As a child and now, in many ways I want to be like my father in everything. For me, he is someone I truly admire. I remember my dad from childhood in his uniform. He's standing. In your hand is a small suitcase or a notebook, it doesn’t matter. Well, here he stands. He is wearing trousers with long, ironed creases. A jacket with wide shoulders and shoulder straps, on which one middle star shone beautifully in the light. It looked very amazing on dad, although a little funny. He’s just very thin, my mother has been trying to fatten him up for nineteen years. Dad was involved in crimes of medium gravity of an economic nature. I remember an incident: I was walking with my dad along the corridor of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Pyt - Yakh, he is tall, thin, in shape, with an even posture and an important step. And I’m so small, ridiculous, with two pigtails, I’m skipping along to make it in time. Everyone who passed by said: “Hello, Alexander Nafisovich.” Dad also greeted and smiled in response. At that moment I felt very important, with a certain bit of pride, and often imagined myself in my dad’s place. And most likely, at such moments I began to think that I wanted to be like him. I began to learn more and more about this profession. I secretly tried on my dad's uniform. I imagined identifying and catching criminals. My dad told me that he loved being on duty in the operational investigative group, where they responded to all calls: murders, hooliganism, fires. For me, all this is strange, unpleasant, difficult. The police are also involved in suppressing and identifying the sale and sale of counterfeit products. And I imagined myself stopping the sale of illegal soft toys. I also really liked it when dad was on duty at public holidays. I don’t know whether he liked it or not, but I was very pleased. Imagine, dad is standing in full dress near a traffic light, a festive column of demonstrators is passing by, there are a lot of people everywhere. And I wave to him through the whole crowd and brag to everyone: “This is my daddy! He keeps an eye on everyone." It happened that dad came home late from work, then mom was worried and waited for him. Then I still didn’t understand why she was so worried. But then I realized that my father had a dangerous profession, but a noble and very important one. Dad, by his example, taught me not to run from difficulties, but to face them. Police service is discipline and responsibility. The service is diverse, no matter what position you hold, what department you work in, you solve human problems. Working in the police, a person affects all spheres of society. This work is wonderful because you participate in the life of people in trouble, the city, and therefore in the life of your country.
What does a policeman do?
At the beginning of March 2011, a law was signed in the Russian Federation, as a result of which the police were replaced by police. Police officers today are charged with maintaining law and order, combating crime, and providing assistance to civilians. The work of police officers is associated with danger and difficulties, so the state provides them with tools for protection: batons, firearms, handcuffs, walkie-talkies and others. The range of protection tools depends on the scope of police activity; the use of these tools is limited by law.
Police officers are guardians of order, people who protect the lives of civilians every day. They protect private and commercial property, conduct conversations with schoolchildren, protect concerts and other events, acting within the law.
Necessary information for children and adolescents
Often, even 2nd or 3rd grade students write an essay or prepare a project on the topic: “My future profession is a police officer.” If the presentation of a specialty on professional platforms is too difficult for a child to understand, we recommend providing him with the following quite simple and easy-to-understand facts:
- A police officer is a person who maintains order, prevents criminals, or searches for and isolates criminals, intruders and violators from other people.
- He is armed, but can only use weapons in extreme cases when it is really necessary.
- He must not only be strong and well-prepared physically, but also educated, sociable and open to communicating with people.
- He often risks his life to make other people's lives safe.
- Not only men, but also women can be police officers.
If you are writing an essay or preparing a presentation in high school, it is recommended not to delve into negative and especially stereotypical assessments.
Practice shows that teachers do not value this too much. But you don’t have to lie: if you see problems in the work of modern police, describe them. But also note how they are trying to solve it, what prospects this solution has.
History of the profession
All over the world you can meet people whose representatives are called police officers. Only during the time of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), and also until recently in Russia and Ukraine, this profession was called “policeman”.
As soon as any formation of a community of people occurs, the need immediately arises for those who will monitor the observance of law and order. At the beginning of the twentieth century, this was monitored by “gendarmes” and “royal police”, they were controlled by the revolutionary command, and only at the beginning of November 1917 the term “militia” was introduced , symbolizing the people's militia, which was properly armed, and was perceived by the common people as something very close to it.
At first these were ordinary volunteer detachments, which consisted of peasants and workers, but by the end of 1918 it was decided to form a state body from these squads.
Professional holiday
Police Day is celebrated differently in different countries. For example, in Russia it is celebrated on November 10 , and in Ukraine it is celebrated on August 4 .
